Star Wars Black Series

The one beast I would still want at this point is surprisingly not OT. I want the Blurrg to go with Kuill. Kuill by himself isn't a spectacular figure, but with the Blurrg, he becomes spectacular. I know it's very similar in design to the Dewback, but that's probably why I'm even bringing it up.
Hell yeah! we all need some Blurrg, Blurrg is at the top of my beast want list too. Right up there with Bantha, Ronto, and Nexu (from the Geonosis arena)

A nexu would be rad. I've actually got a 28 mm scale nexu just chilling on my work desk because it makes me laugh. (Now, does the bantha need plastic sculpted fur or actual soft goods fur?)

Sorry to interrupt the beast discussion with an 'actually' post, but I was looking at the Sandtroopers again and... the orange pauldron guys use every single one of the Sandtrooper weapons throughout their scenes in ANH except the RT-97C Hasbro is including with this figure. I'm still really exited they're finally doing that weapon in that scale, but the orange guys use the T-21, E-11, and DLT-19 in the roadblock scene, the cantina, knocking on doors, meeting Garindan, Docking Bay 94, and turning around in the street as the Falcon takes off, but the RT-97C is always used by either a white pauldron or a black pauldron when shown.

Anyone who read that and thought "....so?", I envy you.

Nexu gang, rise up! Love that kooky kitty. Always had a thing for the Massiff growing up too, since I had the AOTC figure that came with the Geonosian. Would love one for Black Series, especially now that TVC got one with the female Tusken Warrior (who I also want for Black Series). How come TVC gets all the cool stuff? 🤪

I'm admittedly one of those people- I don't know a dang thing about troopers and their weapons, but are any of us truly nerds if there's not a topic that we can scare normies with our immense knowledge of? I love seeing people talk about what they're passionate for! Keep on keepin' on, Ru!

Well after seeing Han and Chewie posed up at the start of the Black Series part I am definitely pre ordering the two of them. We'll see if this jump starts me collecting this line again on a regular basis since I sold off what I had. SIGH.

Appreciated! Yeah, I actively try to not learn more things like this. But little things like.... the stripes on X-Wing wings showing which pilot it is, or of course all the Fett minutiae. But yeah, years ago I sat down and went literally frame by frame, making a spread sheet to track which trooper has which backpack, which weapon, which pauldron, who has or doesn't have the shoulder pouches, and which type, or which type of hip pouches, if any. I even know in one scene two guys traded helmets as opposed to the other scenes. (There were only six suits in Tunisia, but they kept switching pouches, packs, and weapons throughout the shoot, so it ends up being essentially 20 or 21 unique Sandtroopers.)

It's... ridiculous. And now I'm married to this idea of rigid accuracy. Right now I have two 'Sandtroopers', like I've said many times, that are actually the dirty Remnant troopers from Mandalorian, with pauldrons and one has a shoulder pouch and backpack, but they have the wrong knees, no hip pouches, and have the little hip boxes Stormtroopers have but Sandies don't. I'm purpostly forcing myself to have something that is incorrect. It's my own, tiny, passive, stupid rebellion against my OCD for accurate costuming. Heh.

But I keep daydreaming of getting two of this new orange pauldron guy, hoping they'll do black and white pauldrons as well later.

Right? I was really taken by them as well. They looked really dang good, almost like Figuarts or MAFEX for a second. I gotta say, though, and this is probably just a "Me" thing, but I've gotten a whole new appreciation for Black Series recently as I've been dabbling into the absolute bare minimum of posing and customizing. I say "customizing", but it's literally just using a matte spray to remove some of that shine on the plastic, and the end result leaves a lot of the figures looking, at least in my opinion, a lot higher-end. I only mention it because I've noticed in some of the recent redos, especially the ANH ones, that they're a little less shiny, which, when posed just right, I think looks really dang good. If I didn't know it was Black Series, I may not guess it.

God Bless my Mom for putting up with all my nerd speak through the years. I had no filter for ages and would just talk to her like she knew exactly what I was talking about, and she never did, but she always gave me her undivided attention and made me feel like it was important. I've gotten a bit more self-conscious about it in recent years, but it's still fun to meet likeminded individuals who you can just nerd out around.

We all have those characters as well that we just know head-to-toe and have our preferred version of. I suppose the benefit of something with such a large universe as Star Wars is that you can pretend that this trooper did really exist somewhere- maybe he's the one who woke up late and grabbed the wrong blaster, or maybe he failed training, so they gave him a less cool gun. I know it's all about screen-accuracy, and trust me, my nerd OCD has things that it just won't excuse, but it can be fun to head-canon things sometimes. Are these pieces you could theoretically get from other figures, or get custom made? Or would that even suffice?

Oh absolutely. The only part they've never done for black series for Sandtroopers is the white, folded pauldron. I did one by painting a pauldron from a Death trooper bandai kit. I also got a couple of cheap knockoff Sandies from AliExpress just to cannibalize the hip and shoulder pouches. It's all feasible, and not even that big of a deal. Just one of those dumb things I simply know isn't correct. But I think enjoying it anyway is better?

But absolutely, any combination is perfectly fine! I remember making my own Sandtroopers in the potf2 days, using the crowd control guys to fill in the ranks, and paid less attention to weapon and pauldron accuracy than Hasbro. I think part of me misses those simpler times. My knowledge has become my shackles.

Also yes, my mom was the same..maaaaaan would I talk her ears off about Stormtroopers and transformers and such. But it worked out because that eventually meant talking her ear off about romantic entanglements and now my own damn kids. She laid that track to have a kid who always told her all his business heh, and I try real hard to keep that in mind when my youngest tells me every detail of Dandy's World. One day that hopefully means she'll come to me when she's getting curious about the shush, etc.

I would prefer actual soft goods fur, like the POTF 2 Bantha. But I'll take what I can get.

Also, having a Nexu on your work desk sounds like the most correct decision in the history of mankind. I feel like any room, office, or space can only be improved by a Nexu.

Bloody Robo and his Shaak-Ti vid...I was totally going to ignore her like I do 99% of TBS figures but she looked so damn good and well done that my resolve instantly crumbled. So here I am a few days later having pre-ordered her and the other lass, along with Kit Fisto and Ki Adi Mundi because eh, screw it. I guess I'm now going Full Jedi Council.

Ki Adi arrived today and I'm pretty surprised how much I like him.

Did I notice right that the Ayala RotS reissue is actually pinless this time?

The Aayla is just a straight rerelease. The only difference is she has the "wooshing" lightsaber blade effect accessory with her this time along with the regular blade.

Saw Shaak and Luminara at GameStop yesterday. Grabbed Luminara with my $5 monthly coupon. Would’ve gotten Shaak, but the paint on one of her tendrils was way off in a way that would’ve really bugged me every time I looked at her.

But getting Luminara on the shelf and looking at all my Jedi, really just drives home how badly I need them to hurry up with a solo release of the prequel Yoda figure. I’ve got the original BS Yoda up there right now and it looks moderately ridiculous.

Yeah, a single Yoda release is inevitable, but like you said, they really need to hurry up with it. Would've been a great opportunity to include it in the ROTS anniversary line, but, well, choices were made. Hasbro being Hasbro, I can see them not including anything new with him, and he definitely wouldn't come with the council chair again, so it may be a tough price to justify, but I'd love a combat-ready Yoda in the display.

Went ahead and pre-ordered the blue Magnaguard. I know I shouldn't have- it's almost a guarantee that the availability will be good and the price will go down, but I did anyway. I'm a sucker for Grievous and the Magnaguards.

I ordered two retro card Aayla Secura to increase my odds of getting one with a decent card. And get free shipping. Will return the other.

Is Aayla Walmart exclusive? I'm struggling to find specifics about what new (or new-ish) figures are going up where today.
