Star Wars Black Series

I bet a lot of us were super captivated by the troopers on dewbacks from ANH. When I first got into Black Series a sandtrooper on dewback IMMEDIATELY became a grail set to get.

Totally a grail. That's why I've owned it twice. Both times I sold it. Both times I kind of regretted it later. I'm hoping this new trooper means we're going to get a new, updated crack at a dewback set. I promise I won't sell it this time, Hasbro. Probably.

I love the Black Series Dewback! I do have it, but if they rereleased it, I would buy another one without question. It was so fun in the begining, because we got vehicles and creatures. Luke's Speeder, Rey's Speeder, Enfys Nest and the Scout Trooper speeders. The Wampa.

I wish we still got stuff like that. Of course, we did get the STAP and Mauls speeder within the last year. So, that is something.

They've cheaped out so bad on stuff that could be good. The STAP is undersized. The Wampa had that stupid arm and they didn't fix it when they did the re-release. The Wampa holds the distinction of being the Star Wars figure I owned for the shortest amount of time. And that's me.... a HUGE ESB (and specifically Hoth) fan. There was also the undersized landspeeder.

The two Star Wars things I regret getting rid of because they really are fantastic are the dewback and the RotJ speeder bike. I hope we get re-issues of both, because I'm a sucker.

I saw there was a stream today and foolishly got my hopes up for some Andor figures. Would those happen down the line, or are they just not popular enough to make any? Hell, maybe they already happened. Sorry, I'm way out of my depth here.

The Black Series used to be my secondary line but the ST killed my love for the brand to the degree that I don't even own any Star Wars figures anymore. I'd like an Andor and Luthen to celebrate how fucking good Andor is, though.

I just got an e-mail saying the Jedi Survivor Dagan Gera and BX Droid 2 pack from Amazon would be here by Monday. So, that is shipping about a month earlier than expected.

I got the same email and I've already been charged. Hasbro better not do what they usually do and release everything all at once. My wallet needs a break.

Funny seeing all this love for the Dewback, as it's been causing me some grief lately. I do love the ol' lizard, but in my journey to downsize a bit, I did make the tough decision to offload it. I haven't done so yet, and every passing moment makes me reconsider more and more, but I do think I'll need to part with it. Not only because of the new Sandtrooper, but also because, as mentioned, there really isn't an emphasis on creatures and vehicles anymore, so I could use that precious shelf space for more figures. Heck, I'm probably gonna offload my 2 speeders as well (Mando Scout Trooper and the one that came with Paploo). Haven't made my mind up yet on Enfys Nest's speeder; she's one of my favorite tertiary characters, so I'm keeping her, but I don't think I've ever had her speeder where you can see it on the shelf, so it's just taking up space. Part of me is bummed they all but abandoned vehicles in the Black Series, but part of me is relieved. I totally get why, of course- they'd have to be massive, but especially after seeing what McFarlane has done with some of the vehicles there, I'd admittedly love something scaled to Black Series.

Oh man, if you can find the space, keep the Dewback. That bad boy is so well articulated. He's a big beautiful space dragon. I'm always talking with folks about how great Hasbro has gotten at making animals (particularly over in the Joes line) but I feel like that quality was kicked off by the big green lizard machine.

I share your relief/sadness at how they don't focus on bigger items anymore. I don't want the temptation of a Black Series X-Wing, but... I would like a Black Series X-Wing in my heart, if not in my logical brain.

I thought the Dewback set the bar for Star Wars beasts. I expected the Taun Taun to have that kind of articulation and it was so disappointing. Wampa wasn't as bad. But the Dewback is on par with some of Hasbro's latest beasts and creatures, and that's a high bar.

I remember first messing with the dewback and being like OH THAT MOVES TOO? It's really right up there with what they're doing with Classified and even dose some things better because it's big enough to support more articulation. They have the technology to do so much cool stuff with Star Wars beasts if they chose to.

The one beast I would still want at this point is surprisingly not OT. I want the Blurrg to go with Kuill. Kuill by himself isn't a spectacular figure, but with the Blurrg, he becomes spectacular. I know it's very similar in design to the Dewback, but that's probably why I'm even bringing it up.

I'd take a Blurrg in a heartbeat. I'd also love a Howler figure, especially now that Vintage Collection is getting one. Sabine brandishing her lightsaber on the back of a giant wolf creature? Heck yeah, baby!

If they ever do another creature pack, though, my biggest want is a Loth Cat or two (or three). I've seen some beautiful customs out there, but they're a smidge out of my price range. Maybe now that we have our next "solely for merchandise purposes" creature with the Loth Kittens in Ahsoka s2, we can finally get a Loth pack.

Oh, and throw in a Vulptex while you're at it, Hasbro, please and thanks.

You guys are strong. I actually think I have a dewback problem. I can't get rid of any of them. When I off-loaded the vast majority of my 4-inch stuff years back, I couldn't bear to part with either of the dewbacks.

The Black series version is one of my favorite Star Wars items, though the sandtrooper has now been replaced with the first release Mandalorian.

A Black series Blurrg would be great too, though I feel too much time has passed for such a big release.

Oh I'd get a blurg or howler in a New York Minute. Especially because those aren't so space-consuming as other beasts.

I only have two dewbacks, Black Series and the Star Wars Miniatures game one, but that's cos I lost my Kenner one in a house fire. I loved that fricken toy.
