U.S. Politics

@RicksNerdLife Pretty much where I'm at, yeah. I just don't think Gavin would ever go far enough. And I also don't think the entire Democratic party has enough people like him to get anything done. We'll know next year. Realistically, we need everyone over 60 out of any positions of power. Democrats need to show the country that they are the future and the only way to do that at this point is to ditch all the people actively holding us back because they're committed to the old way or because they're actually just Republicans with a D beside their names. There's a LOT of those, to be honest.

Every progressive in America NEEDS to be extremely loud about the fact that they want everyone associated with Epstein's criminal activity to go to jail. It's a small thing but it really does help combat the 'they're just going after Trump' narrative. Nope. I want them all gone. I don't give a single fuck if EVERY Democrat Senator goes to jail over this. Not a single fuck.

YES!

If my fucking dad is on that list, it will be heartbreaking, but... take him!

The fact that finally someone on the Democratic/Progressive side has said "Okay, well...if there are no rules, then there are NO rules" is refreshing. Informing Texas that if they plan on following through with gerrymandering Texas, that they'll gerrymander California to pick up even more seats is genius and frankly, surprising it even took this long.
I don't think anyone wants gerrymandering, but they've left us with no option. You can't keep bringing a butter knife to a gun fight. States like CA, NY, IL, WA, etc. shouldn't have a single Republican seat.

Saying please and hoping they'll do the right thing has been catastrophic.

It shouldn't surprise me, because people are in general rock stupid, but do they not understand that NOBODY likes a public tarring and feathering like the left? Weiner, Franken, Katie Hill, the left LOVES to break out the pitchforks and torches if someone does anything they think is out of line (and yeah, none of those three are equal in the problems with them, but that's kinda the point - run out of Dodge at pitchfork point FAST.) People really think Democrats will be upset if CLINTON is on the list? We've assumed he was a fucking pervert for decades. He was just a good enough mover and shaker to tolerate until proven intolerable.

I think a core part of the problem is that because conservative voters worship their politicians, they assume we do too. In fact, I'd argue they're borderline incapable of accepting that we DON'T. I can't even tell you how many conservatives I've been able to shock into bewildered silence when I told them I can't stand 'my' side's politicians. They can't even grasp it most of the time.

When I say 'yeah, I hate that guy, I hope he goes to jail right next to your guy,' their brains make a little popping noise and they start twitching.

If you feel like watching something truly terrifying today; go check out Surrounded (from Jubilee) on YouTube. The new episode is Medhi Hasan debating 20 far right conservatives (and at least one self-avowed non-democratic fascist). It's.... fucked, guys. Just absolutely fucked.

I watched the 30 second intro and feel this is an outstanding thing to watch anytime one feels their blood pressure is dangerously low.

Spot on about how they can't understand that we don't worship our politicians like deities. Someone tried to go after me with "What about" a bunch of Dems and I'm like let me TELL you my fucking problems with THOSE motherfuckers, but they make me ANGRY, and your guys scare the hell out of me.

Honestly I think this is one of those times where I am more willing to accept that there is just such a large cabal of both Republican and Democrat names (among others) attached to the Epstein crimes that it is the reason why neither side has done anything about the supposed "list." And not just a few "big" names like Trump and Clinton.

Also I would think there are more than just politicians involved, but also celebrities, big money capitalists (CEOs, etc) and foreign power brokers. I imagine it is such a large and varied group that that is why nobody has done anything about it.

I'm not saying I condone anything, let all the kid diddlers rot and spend the rest of their lives in jail. However if there is, possibly, that many men (let's be honest here) involved I can see why nothing has been done.

Yeah, I don't see the full list ever being released unless some brave soul decides to leak it, which is as good as a death sentence unless they can do it in a way where it can't be traced back to them. The sad part is, if a full list ever did get released, I think it would completely depend on who leaked it as to whether or not I believed most of it. If it's a right-leaning platform or person, then I'd at least seriously question its validity (I suppose it would depend how many, if any, right-wing people it had on it). I'd question it a little less if it's a left-leaning person, but I'd still question it. I don't know if there's anyone truly unbiased, but it would take a very fine balance to make me just automatically accept it all, unless there's a way they can prove that the list hasn't been edited or doctored at all.

But overall, yes. I agree- doesn't matter if my favorite person in the world is on that list. If they are, and it can be proven legit, to hell with 'em. Politicians, actors, authors, singers, chefs, athletes, even the freakin' Dalai Lama- Order 66 their ass.

As much as I want such a plan to work, a lot of reliably blue states (CA, NY, WA) have implemented impartial redistricting commissions for maximum enfranchisement, whereas more red states have left it to their legislators to pack and crack districts for maximum conservative rule. As has been discussed, this prisoner's dilemma is part of a multi-decade conservative strategy coming to fruition. Those blue states would have to repeal their redistricting legislation before they could redistrict at-will. It's a painful lesson in Popper's Paradox of Tolerance.

We need a candidate with the guts to designate Trump and the chief architects of this administration as enemies of the state and put them before a military tribunal where they can't use their wealth to throw up a thousand spurious motions to delay justice. Folks like Leonard Leo and Stephen Miller get to live out the rest of their lives in Guantanamo, but Trump needs to be seen dangling from the gallows on national television as a warning to any future leaders who might try to push us into dictatorship.

Jeffrey Epstein's early rise is so suspicious that I can't help but think he works for some sort of intelligence agency somewhere.

Donald Barr gave him his first job as a teacher at a prestigious prep school... for some unknown reason. Epstein was 20 years old and a college dropout. He had no credentials to teach, and no place at a school like that which could recruit very good teachers. Donald Barr, meanwhile, was former OSS (precursor to the CIA) and also, strangely enough, wrote sci fi books about an oligarchy who trafficked adolescents as sex slaves. If Barr sounds familiar, it's because his son is the Bill Barr, who of course was A.G, nominated by Trump, when Epstein was arrested and then committed suicide. Who publicly defended the medical examiner's ruling that it was suicide. Who also served as part of Trump's cabinet alongside Alexander Acosta, who had been the US Attorney in Florida who signed off on Epstein's 2008 plea deal.

After Epstein was fired from the prep school for poor performance, he got a job at Bear Stearns based on connections he made while at the school. Within four years at Bear Stearns he would become a limited partner. A year after that, he'd be running his own consulting firm, one of his clients being Adnan Khashoggi. He was, like, 28.

Maybe it was just that easy to get a job back then if you were a white dude. Or he knew how to get kompromat on people and leveraged it to climb fast.

But a tinfoil hat automatically forms over my head whenever I read about this guys life and his connections, specifically, to people in the Trump admin. I'm sure he had dirt on tons of people, but was he purposely groomed to be a dirt collector? And for whom? Russia? Israel? the US?

Again, tin foil, but I imagine what Epstein has isn't just dirt on individual celebs and politicians, it's dirt on the entire American political system.

It's almost like instead of the shadowy cabal secretly running everything that conservative conspiracy theorists believe in, there's a regular cabal of people that aren't even secret about running everything.

Surrounded
Alright, damn you, I watched the whole thing. I guess I really wanted to be angry today. I'm reminded of the Mr. Show sketch with the most diverse and cooperative hate group ever agreeing on how to split the country up racially. Anyway, yeah, please lets split the country. I don't get why the country has to be all one thing and definitely feel that's impossible, so lets drop the United part unless we're attacked or something then gotta begrudgingly band together until that's done.
