U.S. Politics

I'm hoping that, at the very least, all of this stuff stays with him for the rest of his days like a black cloud and that it eats at him. Maybe it will even stress him out and take a toll on his health. It would take something extraordinary to actually get the terrible people who back him to acknowledge he's terrible so I'm definitely not expecting that or even allowing myself to get my hopes up.

It's not just this. Even 15 years ago Trump would have been impeached or forced to resign in disgrace at least two dozen times by now. Everything the guy does is either wildly illegal or horrific. Or both. And it's not even that his cult doesn't see it. They do. They LIKE it.

Also, this heightened coverage of the Epstein stuff lately has annoyed me more than elated me. Nothing that has come out recently is new information, this was all public knowledge for years and the fact that Democrats weren't campaigning on it pissed me off then and it still pisses me off now.

This is a tough one. I agree that old Democrats (and even young ones like Hakeem Jeffries) aren't cut out for the information/attention age. In some ways, Clinton attempting to respond to everything that came out of Trump's camp was the best we've done. At the same time, to call the media environment "hostile" would be a gross understatement.

We saw the media bury Joe Biden under wave upon wave of negative coverage about his age/cognitive decline. They could've done that for Trump with Russiagate, his penchant for fascism, his war on the press, his age/cognitive decline, his desire to punish his political rivals, his history of pedophilic comments, etc., etc., etc. They chose not to. What exactly could Democrats have done to get favorable coverage, or coverage at all? I'd say not much.

This is how Axios covered Trump this morning:

That's regime media shit. He closed federal agencies without congressional approval. He ignored Supreme Court orders. He created a secret police force. He signed one of the least popular pieces of legislation in American history. And, oh yeah, we learned about how "enigmas never age."

We also know how Elon and Zuckerberg feel about Democrats. Democrats have lost to Donald Trump twice, but I think that's underselling things a bit. They lost the information environment more than a decade ago. The fact that they're competitive at all is surprising.

That Axios article... fuck, man, nobody's life is better right now. He's crushed the country's SOUL, not his first six months. How fucking dare they run a ball-washing article on him this morning when this is publishing at the same time:

At one point, the detainees used sharp iron pipes to cut themselves and write messages in their blood on white sheets as an act of protest, Suárez said. “We are not terrorists,” the messages read. “We are migrants.”

If anyone thinks he's leading the country in the right direction, it's time do what David Lynch said: fix your heart or die.

Biden Should Have Imprisoned Trump on Day One

If you believe in the rule of law, you should believe in the rule of this law! It’s important! Why do all other laws matter except the one that would disbar fascists from power?

The answer is that a lot of our leading very serious people think that holding powerful people accountable is messy and ugly and not to be done. They may dislike fascism. They may even dislike fascism a lot. But they dislike the idea of holding the powerful accountable even more.

@docsilence Jesus, and I thought the Dirty Protests were bad.
Yep, and if WaPo ran this story when Bezos has one entire Trump taco tit in his mouth right now, you know it's even worse than reported. Anyone who thinks humans, criminal or not, should be treated like this, should be sent directly to a place like it to experience it for themselves.

A funny thought came to mind yesterday.

Remember when Trump said he could shoot someone in the street and his followers would still vote for/support him? I guess he found a crime worse than murder that even his followers have a hard time accepting.

Kind of funny that Trump is finding out what being part of the "Leopards eating faces" party is really like, much like a lot of voters.

Well it looks like Ghislaine Maxwell is going to make a deal to lie for Trump. Apparently the DOJ (Bondi) is meeting with her and her lawyer today. Ron Filipkowski has a great take on what will happen. I can't find it because I am a total spaz on social media (don't have any).

Here are his 3 points on what he thinks will happen:

1) DOJ will announce Maxwell completely exonerated Trump

2) They will lie and announce they made no deals or promises to her

3) The deal they made with her will happen at the end of Trump's term

So #1 would be no surprise because they'll claim that anyway. #2 is again no surprise because they lie and it won't get unconvered until long after Trump is gone because they'll destroy, or hide, any evidence of a deal. Finally #3 makes sense because how else do you guarantee she keeps quiet (outside of killing her) and keeps lying for them?

What can she say though? "I absolutely have been in the presence of every female under the age of 18 since Donald Trump was born and can verify he never had sex with any of them"?
