Yeah, every crowdfunding project has last day drops/drops right after they charge the card. It' a huge drop but would I believe that a thousand people combined had some combination of used an expired/maxed out card/ entered their security code wrong/had a change of heart and canceled last minute/wife found out they just spent $325 on a toy etc etc etc. People are wishy washy, weird, and bad with money in many combinations.
I also absolutely hate corporate crowdfunding. They could do this as made to order with a minimum ("If we do not get at least X orders we will not make this product") and it'd be less ridiculous to me - they have they money, they don't need to reinvent Kickstarter. I'm skeptical about actual companies doing Kickstarters, too, but I know a lot of game publishers do it because they simply don't have the cash on hand to get something big started, so I have a lot more grace for them. Hasbro's a big boy, they don't need to do this. If this were their last Haslab for Classified I'd be just fine with it.
I do think character selection played a part into the struggles here, and I say that as someone for whom Flint and Lady Jaye are some of my favorite characters. Winter gear isn't super must-have and we've got multiple great Flint figures (*side eye at having to rebuy LJ several times to get one that didn't have borked ROM*). The Rattler a) was a flying vehicle to mirror the Dragonfly so collectors might have decided one flying vehicle per faction, need to balance their collection, b) Wild Weasel is popular and likely not getting him another way soon, and also that figure is sexy AF, c) army builder! and d) the Baroness is arguably an improvement on the existing one, a beloved character, and NOT tied to her life partner being in the same Haslab so there wasn't a sort of emotional reactiveness to unlocking one without the other. Hot Spy Lady was the final tier, and that's a bit of a motivator, yeah?
