Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

I'm ten's of millions down as it is in this fake history of mine. What's a few hundred more?
Hang in there. I hear the next Kickstarter campaign is for Mythic Cards! If funded you will be able to buy your figures and have your debt all in one place. Each faction will come with its own card and if you go with the all in package the corresponding figures will come with action figure scaled Mythic Cards so they too can go into debt. The Kickstarter exclusive figure is a brute sized figure named Debbtorjjkll.

Please note that you will not be able to use your Mythic Cards! for funding the campaign. They only become activated after the funding period ends but you will be able to use them to add additional items during the Backerit campaign. If used payments will most likely be due before the cards are shipped out in 36-48 months.

Just put together a cart with 2 figures and a few addons. $100+, fine, whatever, not unheard of. Shipping is extra citing "$30-$75." Why does the range on shipping vary so wildly and why can I not be given a shipping quote on checkout? Not committing to ""whatever we feel like" shipping up to $75. I don't want two milquetoast figures and a couple extras THAT bad.

No interest in the game.

They’ve said Kickstarter is having issues with calculating shipping and you will be charged a lower rate when they ship (plus sales tax).

Thanks. Couldn't be bothered to do all this research on something I only have a passing interest in for the toys. May reconsider before the campaign ends.

I will say though "our guy is going to make the game himself" is some top tier overconfidence. Developing a game is HARD, balancing it is harder, and selling it to the most minutiae-oriented, belligerent fanbase in the world is harder still. First thing I would've done if I had 4H money for a kickstarter was look to see if someone like Teos Abadea, Dan Dillon, someone with track record was available as a consultant and thrown some money at them to get it right. Especially because honestly, I could run a Mythoss game on my own with books I own in like, 24 hours, so you gotta do something special to make the game worth buying, cos if you don't, any mid-skilled DM could just do it with existing materials.
This, but louder and with more expletives.

They literally have no clue how much shipping will cost, and from what I hear from other folks doing kickstarters, there's probably not a way for them to find out until it's time. Shipping stuff, especially if you're getting any part of your package from overseas manufacturers, is a goddamn nightmare from everything I've been hearing. The fluctuation due to all sorts of factors is truly astonishing.

I don't know what they did setting up the shipping in their kickstarter this time, but as a crowdfunding frequent flyer, yeah, nobody knows what anything is going to cost to ship right now cos we live in hell. Most stuff I've backed for the past six months doesn't even quote a price though, they just flat out say "shit's fucked, we'll tell you later, you can cancel your order if it turns out it'll cost 97 dollars to ship these dice from China because of tariffs."

This, but louder and with more expletives.
Yeah, maybe I'm too deeply invested in the gaming world but "our guy Broski will do it, it'll be fine" is the ultimate go fuck yourself for the game portion of this. "We've brought veteran game designer XYZ in to consult with us" might mean interesting ideas. Game design isn't rocket science but it is, in fact, a science.

I assumed it would all be coming out of New Jersey or wherever on the east coast that most of the 4H we order comes from, no? Even if they do just allot me the cheapest shipping, that's still $10 more than what I normally pay for shipping 4H stuff. I mostly just wanted some head addons, but you have to buy a figure for that. So the more I whittle down what I don't want it makes the shipping a larger portion of the overall price respectively, leaving me in the "why bother" camp. I'll have to see how badly I want any of it closer to the end. Mostly I just looked at it as a means of diversifying the medieval looking characters I already have, so obviously the overall project wasn't meant for me.

Given that it's not just their toys, not necessarily. Anything that comes as part of a full package of toys and game would make sense for them to pack in house, but assuming they're using someone else to produce the gaming book and materials (seems likely), backers who just buy game stuff might get theirs from whoever is printing it. And regardless of where it comes from, shipping rates are not static over long timelines right now, even within the states, and it looks like they're doing international shipping as well, which means they *extra* have no idea what it'll cost because some damn fool keeps trying to have trade wars.

They don’t expect the shipping to be any different than what they normally charge. It’s coming out of their normal warehouse. All the weights and stuff are just values they had to provide kickstarter for each item as though it was shipped individually. It’s not counting that one figure may ship for $10 but they can ship 6 for $15 dollars. So they aren’t expecting anything really different than what a normal wave all-in might cause to ship for most of the items together. Obviously the larger the actual order you place the more your unique shipping may be but again, their normal non-flat rates is what they would be.

Right, but even in that case, shipping rates are not set by Kickstarter and they are not static, especially for overseas. They can estimate, but they literally don't know today what shipping will cost in 6 months. It's a guess.
