U.S. Politics

I mean at the end of the day we're fucked unless everyone BUT Trump supporters get in line to get him out. Democrats have never met a Democrat they didn't hate, but we also need the Romney Republicans to get off their milquetoast ass and stop being like "I dislike his policies but he's our guy, so I'll support him."

This really is the end game, because if EVERYONE ELSE can't get their shit together, they'll run him weekend at bernies style for a third term and everyone'll be like you can't have third terms and the president can't be an inert object! And then he'll get 46% of the vote and we'll go through this all over again.

Not at all surprised, but man, what incompetence. They couldn't have at least gotten like a private printer or something? Sheesh. One of these days they're gonna leave the nuclear codes on a sticky note somewhere.

Part of me is surprised their menu didn't include McDonald's. I bet Trump is one of those people who likes his steaks extra well done. Something tells me Putin probably threw that eagle statue right in the trash as soon as he left, too. Unless it included some secret document or something within it, which also wouldn't surprise me.

I'm not one to body shame anyone... but at least we know when it's time to hunt these guys down, they won't be able to outrun us. Pretty fucking telling that someone with the body type of Chief Wiggum is the best MAGA can do for their gestapo.

So weird to see people getting all worked up about the Balls Medal of Freedom thing. Mother Teresa was given the same medal. Making it effectively worthless. They could give it to a pile of cockroaches in an oversized business suit for all I care.

And here we go with Trump declaring in person, on paper only voting.

The second, permanent steal begins.

I really hope we have another Covid-era moment, where, despite lots of folks expecting people to not turn up and vote in person, people turned out in droves just to prove a point. How satisfying it would be to see him implement this plan expecting it to make it harder for people, only for them to double down on their attempts to vote him out. He'd undoubtedly come up with some new excuse as to why he was wronged, but still.

The funny part is that this can end up disenfranchising his own voters as well. LOTS of Republican-voters have mobility issues, or minimum wage jobs that they can't leave to go vote, or whatever. It's just such a stupid argument to even be having in 2025 and no one seems willing to go on a live mic and tell him that he's a fucking moron.

Yeah, Stonekettle had a great thing today about senior Trump voters, or military stationed overseas, or DEA/ICE/Homeland/reserves being sent to another state away from their voting precinct etc.

"Remember, the States are merely an “agent” for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do," Trump wrote.
The Republican president's comments follow his meeting with his Russian counterpart on Friday, in which Trump said Vladimir Putin agreed with him on ending mail-in balloting."

I don't know if he really chatted with Putin about mail-in balloting, but I'm really begining to wonder if those rightwingers really care about States' rights. (Ignore the green highlight, it must've gotten picked up on the copy/paste)

They've never cared about States' Rights. Literally ever. You shouldn't even have to wonder about it. States' Rights are ALWAYS off the table if those rights infringe on what the conservatives want states to do. It's been that way as long as I've been alive, or near to.

Also... that's not how voting works at all.
