NECA - General Thread

I would love Ghoulies but also....

I'm so confused. What is Jason Universe?
It's the branding they're using for new Friday the 13th content since all the rights stuff got settled. There's a TV show coming from A24 starring Linda Cardellini as Pamela, for example. I was being sarcastic, because I figured of course NECA would be doing product for the new stuff when it starts coming out.

Admittedly went a little crazy buying more than one Predator this week, but:
  • So many people saying "Ultimate City Hunter" if you just want one really great Yautja are right, he's a great baseline.
  • I appreciate the material of the hands - maybe it's because so many lines I like lately have REALLY difficult hands to put weapons into, but the flexible fingers on these guys is great cos I don't feel like I'm going to break them or scrape the paint to put gear in their hands.
  • I bought Shaman to keep in his Shaman getup, but I think I like his color pattern the best without the poncho. The older I get the more I struggle with seeing contrasts in colors, and the way his skin is white-gray really makes his face and skin contrast pop. I feel like the others' eyes aren't nearly as striking.
  • I caved and got Jungle and City together since I thought I'd regret it if I didn't - I like them both a lot, but probably could've had fun with one or the other.
  • And I REALLY appreciate how NECA did the neck pegs on these. I was worried about wear and tear swapping from masked to unmasked heads expecting a heavy ball joint in the neck, but the peg with a slight bump for grip, while a little hard to line up with the dreads, makes me feel way more secure swapping the heads back and forth.

Anyway, I'm sure this is old news to the NECA veterans but I'm just amped to be picking up a few figures.

Totally separate topic, though: the Jaws fellas are magnificent. And I love the retro look of the packaging so much I think I have to keep it even if they're out on display. Worried we'll never see Brody though, cos that'd bum me out, but these two are really incredible figures. Probably just nudged me into picking up the Dracula figures next time I get a royalty check.

Before they started doing the ultimate versions they did I guess regular ones that weren't as decked out and probably not quite as articulated, but still posed well etc. but they did have a shaman in that as well without the poncho and he had no mask either. Maybe you could get one of those cheapish to throw the poncho on or something. But some of those lost Predators from the second movie really have nice skin patterns.

Eager to see what else we get from the Jason Universe stuff (JCU? JVCU?) I wouldn't say Jason is necessarily my favorite slasher, but I'd still quite like a young Jason figure.

Also, messing around with some of the Beetlejuice figures this week, and I really hope we get more from this line too. I know there's the accessory pack stuff they showed off- Beetlejuice snake, Delia's sculpture, the Priest, etc. But I'd love a young Lydia, and an Adam and Barbara with their crazy stretched-out looks (what a fun way to not have to worry about likeness rights!). I don't know what all they'd come with accessory-wise (beyond the Handbook), but considering how little some of the Beetlejuice figures have come with, I'm not too worried.

I just need a kid Jason, Part 8, JGTH, and Jason X Uber Jason and I'm good. Hopefully this Jason Universe thing means they can make all of those now.

I don't think that means they can do the old stuff at all. That'd still fall under the part of the license that's still a problem TO license. The new Jason design and this "universe" stuff is a way to skirt all around that.

I posted about finding Ardath Bey clearanced at WM for $26, but just saw Amazon also has them reduced to just $1 more.
