Muppets (including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock)

I've definitely gotten spoiled on modern articulation. I love the Palisades line. Their sculpts and paint are definitely top notch. But after handling Bert, Ernie, Count, even the Fraggles with their fragile joints, there's more poses they can get than a lot of the Palisades figures. Kermit and Fozzie still just have cut joints at the hips! On 45 degree angles! No knees, elbows, wrists, ankles... Don't blame fur, even Black Series Chewbacca has joints. It would be like displaying DC Direct with their T-hips with McFarlane DC Multiverse. They might look fine together, but you know those old figures are only going to just stand there, while the newer ones you can pose.
The articulation for the figures later in the Palisades line don't bother me too much, but I would definitely welcome updated figures for the first few waves. Having no ankle rockers is the biggest annoyance to me for the Palisades figures. I would probably be picky in my purchases if NECA makes Muppet figures. I guess it would depend on how much of an upgrade they seem.

I only have the Count and haven’t taken him out of the package. My instinct is the NECA Sesame Street toys are a little bigger than Palisades.

Yes, NECA SS is definitely slightly bigger than what would fit in properly with Palisades Muppets, can confirm. That’s another reason I don’t want to display them together. Bert is around the same height as Fozzie. That feels wrong to me. But if NECA or anyone else never gets around to the Muppet license, I’ll still be very content with what Palisades made and will eventually display them proudly among NECA SS and BFS Fraggle Rock.

They do seem just a bit bigger than the Palisades but not by enough to bother me - I wasn't going to mix and match too much anyway. Even back in the day with the Palisade line it was hard to figure out the real scale of the Muppets compared to each other given 99% of the time we only see them from the torso up, and the characters themselves have varying proportions in terms of head to body to torso.

Got my NECA The Count today, and I love him! The only bummer is that he doesn't come with the muppet bats they showed him with at one of the shows.

Those would have been nice to have. I forgot about them. Who is coming next anyway?
Maybe Herry Monster? I think they said at Toy Fair that Big Bird and Oscar both needed a little more work. I hope they have at least a couple more on display at SDCC. My guess is Cookie Monster and Guy Smiley.

I agree the Sesame Street line is slightly bigger than Palisades, but I was surprised to see how much bigger Bert and Ernie actually are than Kermit. The figures look pretty close to the images I've found of them. Plus, Muppet sizes change so much from shot to shot, the scale doesn't bother me at all. The figures look great together.

Entertainmentearth.com has the Pepe and Deadly and Sweetums and Robin sets scheduled to ship on June and July, respectively. I've all but given up hope that Lew and Lips get made, but I'm still holding out hope that the other two sets get delivered. I don't know what I'll do with the 6 sets of each I ordered across retailers if they actually ship. But, that's a problem I'll gladly deal with.

Herry will be a good one to get. I was hoping it was Oscar though.

If I could get just one more thing for my DST shelf it would be Sweetums so I really hope he was far enough along that he ships.

I ordered Cotterpin, Architect, and Flange Doozer from BBTS to fill out my Fraggle collection. While they’re cute, they don’t have much useful articulation. They pretty much just look ok standing there. They’re small, and don’t feel like $20-25 figures, but what are you gonna do. Nothing feels worth the price anymore.

I also got the Alligator King ReAction figure, because I always loved that short animation from Sesame Street and it felt like such a left field pick that I needed to support it. It’s a fun figure, done in an appropriate way to match the animated drawings. He comes with his seventh son, which I did not expect. I put them in the display, even though they don’t fit stylistically. Content wise, they’re perfect.

I could be wrong. Oscar may be next. I think he was originally supposed to come next. Not to be too greedy, but I hope the line picks up speed a little bit. I'd prefer getting 4-5 figures a year instead of 2-3. I'm guessing the tariffs are encouraging NECA to speed up.

Since Sweetums, Pepe, and Uncle Deadly are all tough for me to customize, I really hope those three come out. As much as I want Lew and Lips, I think I could make decent customs of them.

I bought the three Doozers because I think it would be cool to have a collection of 5-10 of them together. I agree, they are fine, not great. I'm a little disappointed they are slightly different colors to match the original and new show. It's not a big concern though. Hopefully, there is a least one more BFS Fraggle wave and a couple more Doozers are included.

The Muppet Star Wars figures are pretty close scale wise to Select. They have Deadly as the Emperor
YES. I love that they’re very close in scale, just not really sculpt. The SW Muppets are a little thicker and a bit more cartoony. But close enough, and one of the best crossovers to be realized as action figures.

Thanks for reminding me about this option. I was checking out Deadly and Link figures on eBay but have held off on buying them because they're so expensive. They might be the best option. Thanks!

I'm still holding out hope that Sweetums, Deadly, and Pepe ship. Around 10-20 minutes in the below video, Rocco, a freelance sculptor who created hundreds of pieces for DST and Gentle Giant Ltd, briefly mentions he's heard it is a 'soft closing' and products far in production will still come out. Since those two Muppet sets are currently sold out in a few places, I'm guessing quantities are fixed because they've passed some level of production. Maybe they're done and just waiting somewhere to ship. Or maybe it's just that the contract with the factory on number of units has been finalized. I'm feeling more optimistic we'll get them than I was a week ago. Let me know if I'm totally mistaken. I could certainly be blinded by desire.

If NECA did/does pick up the Muppets license, when is the earliest we would learn that and start seeing products? Are NYCC in October or NY Toy Fair next February too early? I don't have any idea how long it would take to renegotiate the license agreement, plan and design products, create protypes, and obtain licensor approval. Could they possibly tease something at SDCC? That seems unlikely, but maybe?
