Muppets (including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock)

Yes I'm happy to report that at least in my case quality was much better the second time. I'm still gun-shy articulating after my issues with wave one but nothing felt like it was going to break. One positive is that I opened them while they were all nice and hot from being in the UPS truck all day so that always helps. Sprocket feels really nice and not fragile at all.
Great! Hopefully they rerelease/reissue the first wave with better quality control. I really wanted gobo but I don't want to deal with figures that will break super easily

We don't seem to have a Fraggle Rock thread, but since Sesame Street is also being mentioned in this thread, I thought I'd post some pics of Sprocket, who arrived today.

This thread is intended to cover all Muppets, not just The Muppet Show Muppets. And yes, Sprocket is indeed awesome, my favorite from the Fraggle Rock line.

I went ahead and bought the not-classic Mokey. Originally I was going to skip her but I got worried about the tariff situation and who knows if they will ever actually release the classic one they teased. I figured this new Mokey was better than no Mokey at all.

Can you change the title to "Muppets, Fraggle Rock, and Sesame Street Lines" or something like that? Might encourage more discussion on the other two. I know they are all Muppets but sometimes the mind doesn't immediately make the connection.

I wonder if Boss Fight Studio will be having reveals of new figures soon. I don't think they're usually at SDCC, but I think they often have a livestream event around this time each year where they tease upcoming waves. Is there any chance Doc could be included? Maybe an undersized Gorg?

With DST sadly ended, and lots of speculation about NECA picking up the Muppets license, I'm getting excited about the possibility of getting more Muppets to go with my Palisades collection. Personally, I'd like updates for Kermit, Piggy, and Bunsen, plus newer characters like Bobo, Walter, and Joe the Legal Weasel (maybe too obscure). Getting some of the planned but unreleased characters, like Sal, Nigel, and Louis Kazagger would be amazing, too, but I'm not sure how likely they are since they're so obscure. Ideally, I would love for them to continue the DST line, too. We were so close to getting Lew Zealand and Lips! Maybe they could happen? Let me keep believing in that fantasy.

Boss Fight is quiet on both Fraggle Rock and Saurozoic Warriors right now. Both have released everything that was announced and have shown nothing past that.

Also as someone who didn't collect Palisades I'd just be excited to start a Muppets collection of larger figures. I love my DST figures but they are small and definitely don't go with the Sesame Street or Fraggle figures I have.

While I would love some Muppets like Kermit, Fozzy, Piggy and Gonzo, to go with my Sesame Street figures from NECA, I AM glad to have Muppets figures that scale with 7" figures.
I can now have Kermit and the gang interact with Pee Wee and Elvira, and not look out of place.

It would be good if NECA expanded to Muppets but I hope they stay on target with the Sesame Street line and don't get spread too thin.

Ms. Piggy in particular could use a better sculpt as an upgrade to the Palisades version, but I can't see replacing my Palisades as that was a great line at the time, and at some point for me the nostalgia and scope of the line takes precedence over new figures being better.

I prefer the scale or the DST Muppets both for their ability to fit in with other lines and for shelf space. I have been making lots of customs to build out my DST collection. Now, I'm thinking about switching over to the Palisades scale. Maybe I'll make customs of Lew, Lips, Beauregard, Pops, Link Hogthrob, the Newsman, the Snowths, and Marvin Suggs to finish up the DST line. Hmm, that's still a lot to make. I'm going to hold off on Lew and Lips, just in case. With the additional customs I want to make for the Palisades line, I guess I'll be busy over the next few years.

It's weird, now that we have Fraggles and Sesame Street figures in approximate scale with the Palisades Muppets, you'd think I'd want to display them again. While they look great, they don't compare based on articulation. Not that I'll be posing them in extreme poses, but you can see and feel the limitations of the 20yo line. I'd probably cave on Muppets all over again if NECA got their hands on the license.

I'm pretty satisfied with where the Diamond Muppet line left off. We got pretty much all the major characters. The only ones I wish they got around to were the Snowths to go with Mahna Mahna. I can live without Lips, he was always on the periphery of the Electric Mayhem, to me at least. And I do like how they scale with other 6-7" lines.

I have thought about going back and picking up some of the major Muppets characters from Palisades many times over the years. Every time someone mentions that they feel dated or the articulation is bad it throws a bit of water on that fire.

By some standards, they may be dated, but they don’t *look* dated and they make an awesome display, so it really depends on what you want out of them. They look good on the shelf, and that is what I want at the end of the day. If in doubt, by a couple (if not cost prohibitive) and try them out.

I've definitely gotten spoiled on modern articulation. I love the Palisades line. Their sculpts and paint are definitely top notch. But after handling Bert, Ernie, Count, even the Fraggles with their fragile joints, there's more poses they can get than a lot of the Palisades figures. Kermit and Fozzie still just have cut joints at the hips! On 45 degree angles! No knees, elbows, wrists, ankles... Don't blame fur, even Black Series Chewbacca has joints. It would be like displaying DC Direct with their T-hips with McFarlane DC Multiverse. They might look fine together, but you know those old figures are only going to just stand there, while the newer ones you can pose.

NECA's toon TMNT was definitely their biggest seller for a while there, but the line is naturally running out of characters to make. It still has a lot that can be done with it, but NECA doesn't seem to have many other IPs with long legs. It seems like the Sesame Street line is selling pretty well. The Count sold out on the Target website pretty quickly each time he went up. Burt and Ernie are still sold out on Target.com. I haven't seen any in store.

The Muppets-verse really lends itself to NECA, who are great at deco and texture and always include really creative and really well executed accessories. I could see them going really deep with SS, but also with The Muppets, if they could secure the line.

I sat out the Diamond Figures because I love what few Palisades figures and playsets I have, and didn't want to scale mismatch. I also much preferred the Palisades sculpts. But I'd definitely rebuy several characters for NECA versions.

Also, speaking of, I hope NECA is thinking about playsets. I guess they'd all be pretty damn expensive. But I'd love to have another go at the backstage playset.
