Tracking toy tariffs

Interesting info. Thanks for sharing. I do hope that Hasbro is able to get through this with only minimal price increases and it sounds like maybe they are better poised to do so than just about any other company. A large portion of what I still collect is product from Hasbro with GI Joe Classified (one of the few lines I'm still pretty much all in on) and Marvel Legends (about 60% in).

Also I'm 45 but will never be able to not snicker when I read the Hasbro CEO's last name, Cocks.

The number of them who claim that the tariffs on China are great because they don't buy "cheap Chinese crap" anyways is also hilarious. Just totally unaware of the world. A lot of them seem to think you have to actively order something from China yourself to be affected by the tariffs.
They are utterly ignorant to what globalism is. It makes no sense at all to be so anti-globalist.
It is like the industrial revolution.
It isn't "happening" it has HAPPENED. Many corporations are multinational now.
There is no going back to the way things were before unless you want to stop airline connections & the internet.

I keep saying Trump is totally this guy...

Anti-Globalist Americans are like the last typewriter company posting angrily on Reddit about the evils of home computers. Like dude, you are THREE LEVELS behind what's going on and nothing about you makes sense.

The globalization ship sailed 30 years ago. It's like trying to walk back the Industrial Revolution in 1890 England. Not only has it already happened, but you were the main beneficiary.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me:

They're trying to reinstate feudalism. According to our billionaire overlords, the working class has amassed too much power.

“This is the new model, where you work in these kind of plants for the rest of your life, and your kids work here, and your grandkids work here. You know, we let the auto plants go overseas. Right now you should see an auto plant, it’s highly automated but the people—the four, five thousand people who work there—they are trained to take care of those robotic arms, they are trained to keep the air conditioning system.”

Thank you for brightening my morning by reminding me of one of my favorite Simpsons bits. Wiggum typing on his invisible typewriter gets me every time.

I'm dying to do this in a real life situation.

I can't find it at the moment but I saw a piece on FB yesterday where the president of a smaller company tested out the "I'm willing to pay more for something if it's made in 'Murica" thing by listing the exact same product twice, once listed as made in China and once listed as made in the US at a higher price point. He got ZERO orders for the US listing.

People who aren't willing to pay service industry or fucking TEACHERS a decent wage claiming they will pay more for their little tchotchkes if we just make them here are so full of shit they squeak when they walk.

This thread feels like it moves too fast. I'm not sure if this was already posted. I had to screenshot since I wasn't linking to Twitter correctly.

This is wrong on so many levels and only matched by my hate for the guy on the right.

I think Stephen Miller has some terrible terrible things he is hiding. You can't look into that guy's dead eyes and think he is on the up and up. Looks like a serial killer.

I think it's funny that one day they are talking about cutting through regulations to make business easier in America and here the next he talks about how our regulations make things safer.

I assume the 'extended growing pains' or whatever will be hand-waved with an explanation his base will accept and regurgitate to anyone trying to talk sense to them. Or Biden or something. Kids really only need half a toy these days anyway.

I actually had the link handy because I'd just shared it with a few friends yesterday. Glad he shared his direct experience with this experiment:

That was my favorite part of it. 'We need to deregulate everything so businesses can operate!' 'We have the best regulations - things here are so much safer.'
Dude, these guys would bring lead paint back in a SECOND if they thought there was a single dollar in it for them.
