I don't understand how anyone thinks Trump is working in their best interest. It's always been about what is beneficial to him.
I never have. When he first ran the first time and people were saying he was one of them and represented the every-person, I scoffed so hard that I passed out for a week.

It’s a cult, and one of the biggest tells that a cult is a cult is the insistence that when the leader says something obviously wrong or untrue, that it must not be questioned and indeed any questioning at all will be met with (possibly lethal) pushback.

I used to work for a guy from South Boston, and I admittedly haven't gotten to really know many others so he is always my big example of what people must be like from there. But you definitely remind me of him a lot, and I mean that with affection. Many things he said or did left my jaw hanging open, but mostly with envy. One time a British guy was being a total asshole to a flight attendant and this guy told him to cut it out or he'd lay him out, which is what ultimately happened. And we got free booze for the flight from that. I'd never experienced any aspect of that incident before heh.

Also, sidenote, he also owned a bar (in Chicago) where he almost exclusively employed illegal immigrants from Ireland. This was twenty years ago though so I don't know if that's still the case.

I felt myself losing brain cells just reading that, and I don't have that many to lose as-is. What an Ignoranus. That's like an Ignoramus, but a much bigger asshole.

Please don't insult ignoramuses. What did they ever do to you? :ROFLMAO:

They raised me to become one! 🤪 But you're right- most ignoramuses (ignorami?) I've met are at least harmlessly so. My sincerest apologies to any and all who wear the moniker. What's beneath the bacteria on the waste crapped out by the tardigrades populating the rancid maggots infecting the wounds of disease-ridden troglodytes? Because that's ballpark where he and his ilk are at.

Aw, man. I love Boston so fucking much.
Me too. If it was even remotely feasible for me to move back, I would in a heartbeat.

Okay well... that checks out. Haha.

It's interesting how big the regional differences can be just in general attitude and behaviour. I've had lots of comments since moving here about how different I act than people raised here. One lady when I asked her to clarify told me, and this had me laughing pretty good, that I was 'not less kind than anyone she knows, but far less polite.' I also had a coworker once (construction, and we were both having a really bad day at the time) tell me after a slight verbal confrontation that he'd literally had his life threatened on the street, but never felt like he was in such immediate danger as when I said 'what the fuck did you just say?'

My wife used to watch this show called Blackish, and I heard her roaring laughter downstairs and she yelled 'they're talking about you.' She went back in the show (this was in the DVR days... anyone have one of those anymore?) and they were talking about some guy that was bullying someone or something and they were telling the other character to just deal with it and from there the bullied individual is like 'he's from Boston.' The response from the other character was "Ooooh. Home of the original scary white guy."
Really good show, by the way, if you've never seen it.

Anyway.. Bostonians seem to be a particular breed, I guess. Never knew that, of course, until I moved away.

Meanwhile, in the Midwest:

Ope, lemme just scooch on past ya here.
Try Western Canada. It's SO fucking weird here.

100% Midwest attitude as a guy accidentally bumps into you at the grocery store, and the same guy will jump in his lifted pick-up, blast black fucking exhaust all over the parking lot, and cut 3 people off in traffic while giving them the finger as he races to go home and beat his wife. These people are fake as fuuuuuuuuuuck.

Boston guy here. Had to travel to Mississippi for a funeral last month and saw how other motorists will just pull over when they see a funeral procession, whether they're traveling in the same direction or not. No fucking way that would ever happen in Boston. I've done funeral processions that have to travel down Route 1 and it's a shit-show.
