Super 7 Ultimates Thread

Relentless attention to quality? Ahhhhh what the Hell. Politicians, the news, everyone is just openly and blatantly lying these days. Why not Super7.
They might as well add "Genius innovation in figure articulation" and "The most reasonable prices in toy history" to their list of what makes them special.

Damien is slipping. You posted that 2 minutes ago.
Sorry guys, I read the 'relentless attention to quality' thing and everything just went red. Not sure where I've been or what I've been doing for the last 20 minutes but there's a LOT of fires in my neighborhood. I'm sure it's fine, though.

Hilarious to read Brian's cope about how he's NOT handing off control of Super7. Which is kind of true. It's clearly being TAKEN from him. Because he's a fucking idiot and if he's left in control of Super7 they're going to go out of business. But now it's okay, guys. Guys. GUYS. The fucking Hot Wheels and Yu-Gi-Oh guy is here to fix everything. I'm sure he has a deep and nuanced understanding of the modern super-articulated action figure collecting mindset. The Hot Wheels guy. He's going to team up with the vinyl art piece guy to bring you the very best high end action figures you could ever want. I have absolutely no reservations about that at all. NONE.

Also, let's not get lost in this truly incredible news. Important to remember that Super7 hired on a new CEO after shit-canning 80% of the staff. Fuck this company. Fuck Brian Flynn. Fuck this new lifelong executive dickhead. Thanks for coming to my BONKERS Ted Talk.

I think the most interesting part of the press release if the announcement of their new product line(s?) “Super Plush, Fun! Fun!” or is it “Super Plush” and “Fun!Fun!”

Who the fuck knows! But I like the new CEO walked in, sat down at Brian’s old desk, pushed the funny sunglasses and sound board into the trash because it’s time to get serious about rebuilding this brand’s legacy, and answer: “KidRobot seems to do pretty well with $20 stuffies at Target, maybe we do that?! Give it a Anime-y Japanese-y Weeby name like ‘Super Happy! Fun! Fun!’ to remind people we used to be a sofubi company once, but don’t use that one! Make sure it’s clear it’s a line of plush!”

They’re different, though you’re on the right track with the Kid Robot comparison. Fun Fun are little vinyl figures designed to look cute and Super Plush is just…plush. They already have so much license overlap with NECA that it seems like a losing proposition to go after Kid Robot, but good luck to them.

Ah yes, the perfect direction for Super7 to go: More expensive, shittier versions of Funko POPs.
Everyone in an executive position is a fucking idiot.

(Does a search for Super7 Fun! Fun! And… Audible Gasp!) Noooo! No! No! They really are just fake Pops?!?!

I figured it had to be two products and it was just weird grammar making it look like “‘Super Plush, Fun! Fun!’ and More!” (It was “Super Plush… Fun!Fun!… and more!” Three different things, I mean could you even imagine?!) but I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what a “Fun!Fun!” would even be so I went with the idea it HAD to be a play on Americans calling every Japanese game shot “Super Happy Fun Fun”…. But Noooooo! No, they’re fucking serious with this?!?!

Like, making Plush, sure, whatever, they’re gonna get tossed on the same dusty low rack at Target as the KidRobots and no ones gonna double checks to see what brand made the weird pop culture stuffy… but fake Pops?! In the year of our lord twenty twenty five?!?! (Maybe six I didn’t pay attention to when these come out)

And Fun!Fun! is such a “trick your friends into thinking they’re buying you a cool gift when really they’re buying an unrelated product” since so many people already call them “Funkopops” (pronounced Funk-o-pops and said as one words) so “funfun” seems like intentional brand confusion… having a similar product called “Funfun” is like releasing a new handheld video game system called “Swift Too!”

Edit: apparently some of these things exist out in the world for you to own right now… but because it is such a confusing brand name, if you search “Fun Fun” on Big Bad, it brings up FUNKO products, you need to search “Super7 Fun Fun” or the proper branded spelling of “Fun!Fun!” Or as one word “funfun” to actually see them, which seems like a HUGE whiff! Forget my hilarious “Swift Too!” comment this is Burger King calling their new burger a “B¡G Mác” and hoping people type it correctly into search so it doesn’t send them to their competitors… for what it’s worth the other common misnaming of Funko Pops “Funkos” also shows Funkopops, so causal consumers a lot more likely to see some Attack on Titans Funkos than anything Fun!Fun! related (“Funkopops” brings up an “opps! No results!” page because Big Bad will punish you for slightly off searches, so I feel like ‘fun fun’ is a more likely search term than ‘funfun’ even if that one actually works)

Funko can’t even figure out a good secondary follow up to Funkopops! actual action figures, ReActions, there own off brand ReActions, fake Nendos, fake He-Mans, Dorbs, Sodas… all fallen to way side of history while Funkopops keep chugging along…

YouTooz seems to have some level of staying power, but that mostly just seems to be because they’re willing to do super limited runs of niche YouTubers and Streamers for the Gen Z’s to collect and any pop culture ones are just suppliments to your collection of Binging with Babish and Lindsey Ellis (I don’t know what kids watch!) YouTooz since you already have a collection might as well pad it out and not something you’d buy as a stand alone product…

I guess those Ducks that can’t actually be used as ducks stuck around too, but that seemed to because novelty ducks were already a thing for Jeep Collectors and they just said “what if we sold them for $25 to Pop Collectors?”

But no, Super7 will crack the code with (checks notes) Seasme Street, Peanuts, and Godzilla… all things you can get as Funkpops!

I’m not even sure what I’ve been saying makes sense, just incoherent rambling as I mutter “funfun funfun…” to myself unable to process what I’m looking at… I need to lay down, I can’t believe “Fun! Fun!” are fake Pops this late in the game…

So what is the over/under on Brian Flynn "leaving" Super7?

The first step was bringing in the "investment money."

Now the second step....new CEO and Brian is the CCO (Chief Creative Officer) and board member.

Final step should be "Brian has decided to pursue new creative avenues and is proud of all he accomplished with Super7. He wishes everyone all the best at Super7 and knows they will continue the brand's legacy of high quality (ha) product for collectors all over the world."

I say a year from now we'll see something like this happening. Unless Super7 somehow manages to turn it around and becomes a bigger company.

At the rate Super7 is scrambling to flee from Brian's horrible mismanagement of the company and find anyone with the barest concept of how to do something else -- I kind of wonder if I should just toss in an application. I'm 100% sure that, at the very least, I would do a better job at being CCO than Brian. In fact, I'm fairly confident I'd be a better CEO than fucking Hot Wheels guy that Mattel didn't feel was useful enough to keep around.

I already literally run a company, so I know how to do that. I actually like action figures and pay attention to what collectors want, so I'm already more qualified than Brian and Hot Wheels guy put together. And I recognize that powering out low quality shit at import prices is a recipe to doom your company, so again -- already ahead of Brian.
Put me in charge of Super7 and let me re-hire any of the previous team I want, even if it means Hot Wheels CEO can go fuck his hand and take a pay cut. Hell, I'll run Super7 for 1 year for free. No salary as long as I can make decisions without oversight from the shareholders or some fuckbag Yuh-Gi-Oh guy.

What have they got to lose? The company is already in the shitter. Can't imagine I could make it worse. C'mon, cowards. Give me the job and then shut the fuck up while I make Super7 not a punchline.

All right, let's try this.

How does the ship look if it was to be turned around for the company and their product?

Are Thundercats and Silver Hawks enough? If Brian did leave and they decided to make an honest shot at making everything right, what changes would you want or expect?

Obviously this is the most hypothetical of hypotheticals because there's a lot of other stuff going on in the world at this moment that would affect a toy company. But let's be idealists.

Honestly, if they did MotUC-adjacent but better articulated, glossy plastic Silverhawks, I'd buy them all over again.

Not cartoon-accurate or toy-accurate, I want imagination-accurate.
