(Does a search for Super7 Fun! Fun! And… Audible Gasp!) Noooo! No! No! They really are just fake Pops?!?!
I figured it had to be two products and it was just weird grammar making it look like “‘Super Plush, Fun! Fun!’ and More!” (It was “Super Plush… Fun!Fun!… and more!” Three different things, I mean could you even imagine?!) but I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what a “Fun!Fun!” would even be so I went with the idea it HAD to be a play on Americans calling every Japanese game shot “Super Happy Fun Fun”…. But Noooooo! No, they’re fucking serious with this?!?!
Like, making Plush, sure, whatever, they’re gonna get tossed on the same dusty low rack at Target as the KidRobots and no ones gonna double checks to see what brand made the weird pop culture stuffy… but fake Pops?! In the year of our lord twenty twenty five?!?! (Maybe six I didn’t pay attention to when these come out)
And Fun!Fun! is such a “trick your friends into thinking they’re buying you a cool gift when really they’re buying an unrelated product” since so many people already call them “Funkopops” (pronounced Funk-o-pops and said as one words) so “funfun” seems like intentional brand confusion… having a similar product called “Funfun” is like releasing a new handheld video game system called “Swift Too!”
Edit: apparently some of these things exist out in the world for you to own right now… but because it is such a confusing brand name, if you search “Fun Fun” on Big Bad, it brings up FUNKO products, you need to search “Super7 Fun Fun” or the proper branded spelling of “Fun!Fun!” Or as one word “funfun” to actually see them, which seems like a HUGE whiff! Forget my hilarious “Swift Too!” comment this is Burger King calling their new burger a “B¡G Mác” and hoping people type it correctly into search so it doesn’t send them to their competitors… for what it’s worth the other common misnaming of Funko Pops “Funkos” also shows Funkopops, so causal consumers a lot more likely to see some Attack on Titans Funkos than anything Fun!Fun! related (“Funkopops” brings up an “opps! No results!” page because Big Bad will punish you for slightly off searches, so I feel like ‘fun fun’ is a more likely search term than ‘funfun’ even if that one actually works)
Funko can’t even figure out a good secondary follow up to Funkopops! actual action figures, ReActions, there own off brand ReActions, fake Nendos, fake He-Mans, Dorbs, Sodas… all fallen to way side of history while Funkopops keep chugging along…
YouTooz seems to have some level of staying power, but that mostly just seems to be because they’re willing to do super limited runs of niche YouTubers and Streamers for the Gen Z’s to collect and any pop culture ones are just suppliments to your collection of Binging with Babish and Lindsey Ellis (I don’t know what kids watch!) YouTooz since you already have a collection might as well pad it out and not something you’d buy as a stand alone product…
I guess those Ducks that can’t actually be used as ducks stuck around too, but that seemed to because novelty ducks were already a thing for Jeep Collectors and they just said “what if we sold them for $25 to Pop Collectors?”
But no, Super7 will crack the code with (checks notes) Seasme Street, Peanuts, and Godzilla… all things you can get as Funkpops!
I’m not even sure what I’ve been saying makes sense, just incoherent rambling as I mutter “funfun funfun…” to myself unable to process what I’m looking at… I need to lay down, I can’t believe “Fun! Fun!” are fake Pops this late in the game…
