Star Wars Black Series

My only concern is that they won't be useful. Depending on how the pieces fit together, you may either have 'okay' range, 'good' range, or literally nothing but 360 degree swivel. I'm interested to see how these work once someone has them in hand.
True. I wouldn't be surprised to see the ROM hindered by their robes or something, depending on the character, or the pegs will be brittle or something. There's always some sort of compromise. But I remain hopeful.

Well their recent Darth Maul had them ballpeg wrists and he has decent range all around. He can't point the sword forward though, so these may not be able to do that either. But apart from that, the ballpeg really does allow for better range.

I really liked these, but there's some problems. Anakin looks fantastic all around, they did make his torso flaps separate so that they can move out of the way of his arms, kinda like the Sh figuarts figures. But they didn't do it for Obi Wan and that's really disappointing! His torso overlay is all one piece, I really thought they had learned their lesson. I mean they did such a great job with Maul, Farmboy Luke, their overlays get out of the way for some impressive range across the chest. Obi's not gonna be able to do much thanks to that. In the photos he can barely get a two handed sword wielding pose going. While the recent Luke and Maul can get multiple poses wielding the sword two handed. That really blows my excitement.

The base is awesome and all those extra accessories are great, the hands, heads, lightsaber effects, and the likenesses are very good too. But man what will the price be? And then it's an exclusive? I can't see this selling for less than $80 man. Will it end up on amazon in my country, like a few of the other exclusives did? Because hasbro pulse doesn't ship here. What will the price be?

And honestly, what will the individual figures come with? I would like at the very least for them to come with their robes, lightsaber, 1 swoosh effect and the force hand... but hasbro's not gonna do that, right? They're probably gonna keep all those cool accessories exclusive to this rare and expensive set! And that just sucks man. I guess we'll see what they do. I'm happy, but also really disappointed overall.

And it looks like I was right, just saw that the price is $109.99 for this set. Jesus what were they thinking!

That SDCC set is awesome! I'll probably get it, even though I'm sure they are letting out Obi Wan and Anakin from ROTS as single releases. But I really like all that Mustafar display stand stuff. That all looks really cool.

Definitely need Barriss and at least 2 or 3 Temple Guards. I'd say at SDCC we will see single release Anakin and Obi Wan (just the same figures from the set, with less stuff and no Mustafar stands/display items), The Stranger, Boba Fett, Jango Fett, The Mace/Palpatine 2 Pack, and I hope some of these characters that haven't been revealed, but we know what they are from such as ROTS, AOTC, and Tales of the Jedi.

Man, I'm still really digging this SDCC set. I figure it's gonna be at least $90, but probably $100. Still, I'm getting it.

How about $109.99? As Spinc pointed out above. That's what Preternia has posted, too.

God help me I don't think it's that crazy of a price considering those sweet Mustafar pieces — and by and large, I've been pretty down on most recent Star Wars offerings.

Barriss looks really good too. I hope they keep up with the prequel jedi figs. Saesee Tinn has to be coming soon.

The price is honestly insane (I mean, 2 $25 figures plus a base = $109?!?)... but somehow I still really want it. We know that the single releases won't get all those sweet extra accessories like the extra heads, the lightsaber effects, or maybe even the extra force hands, and that's without saying any of the mustafar base. And it's all such a good display piece. I mean you get this set you have a display ready to go. If I see it on my amazon, at a fair translated price, I may just get it. But I'm still not happy about it. I guess we shall see what they do with the single releases. If they include enough of the accessories maybe I'll just skip this entirely.

I keep going back to Barriss' glamour shots and I'm in awe. She looks so good. It's making me love the character even more, which is a testament of how far TBS's quality has improved. These figures are superb. I mean, look at the faces on Anakin and Obi-Wan.

With Hot Toys making Saesee Tiin, Hasbro will probably follow soon. And I bet we'll see Agen Kolar as well, so that we can recreate Palpatine's scene.

So can I wish for Adi Gallia? Can I dream?

I didn't get the Starkiller 3 pack, but I'm trying to remember how much it was. Wasn't it around $100? That set only had 1 new figure and a handful of new accessories and was $100- this one has 2 new figures, some new accessories, and a huge new 2-part base. Doesn't sound thaaaat bad in the grand scheme of things. They easily could've charged more. I don't wanna sound like a Hasbro shill all of a sudden- is it price gouging? Yeah, probably, but it doesn't really feel as blatant this time- at least there's a fair amount of new stuff.

Agreed- Hasbro has really been knocking it out of the park with these Jedi figures, especially these last 3 ladies. All 3 are pretty high up on my list of favorite Jedi; something about the mix of traditionally feminine garments and almost religious/cultural garments has always really appealed to me. That may be an over-simplification of things and maybe not entirely the right descriptor, but that's the best way I can think of to put it, and I applaud Hasbro for going with those looks, especially for Barriss- more traditionally "feminine" figures belong on the shelf every bit as much as the guys or the action-oriented gals. Not to be that guy, but McFarlane would never make Luminara or Barriss- maybe Aayla, and maybe Shaak Ti in her odd Force Unleashed look, but not their dresses.

I'd love an Adi Gallia too; always remember playing as her in Jedi Power Battles and thinking she was secretly some ex-Sith or something because of her reddish pink lightsaber. I'm sure there's some existing parts, maybe from Rey, that they can tweak a little to make a female version of the Jedi tunic that Obi, Mace, etc. have. Plus, they can pretty much just immediately turn around and re-release it with a slightly different head sculpt or face plate as Stass Allie.

Yeah, the last three female Jedi have been shockingly good (or at least Barriss looks like she'll match the other two). They really could release a new Jedi or two with every wave going forward and I'd be thrilled. Not a name on the list I wouldn't pick up.

Personally, I think toy pricing has gotten way out of hand in general. But I imagine they're considering this a three-pack (if Grogu can be a figure, then so can that droid). So two 'deluxe' figures, plus the droid...? I see where they get the price, even if I don't agree with it at all. But my objection wouldn't be that it's not consistent with their existing pricing, but rather that their existing pricing is kind of trash.

I heard the new Han/Chewie wave is appearing in some parts of Canada now? I'm getting itchy for those guys. Most of my toys are packed up right now, but I have a little display above my computer of the new Luke and Leia, with one of the newer R2s. Need that Han and Chewie. Then need Hasbro to get on an updated Threepio and Ben.

It really is kinda bonkers that we've never had any updates to 3P0- or any protocol droid- in the line. At least that I remember- pretty sure 4-L0M, 1-JAC, and Triple Zero are all that same initial figure (and the blown apart ESB Threepio is more an accessory anyway). I get that there's not really much you can do with them- they don't need to be able to strike all sorts of action poses like Huyang, the HK Assassin droid, etc. But at least a new mold with some better paint apps would be nice; a true chrome finish would be hella sexy, and then we can finally start getting other protocol droids like TC-14, AP-5, etc.

Fuck, that's quite a bit of cheddar. I think that's high, but I also think I'll still get it. No... I know I'll still get it.

Careful. If you say Bonkers three times, Brian Flynn will show up and make extremely shitty versions of Threepio and Vader, and then cancel the rest of the line.

Also yeah-- but I mean, I guess it's worth noting how excruciatingly long it took them to tool a new R2 while import model kits spent like 3-4 years kicking their ass on decent astromech droids. So it's not like the Star Wars team has ever been quick to do anything. I'm very hopeful that new Luke, new Leia, new Han, new Chewie, and fairly new R2 (and new Stormtrooper and new Sandtrooper) means that the team already decided to just redo the entire main ANH cast and Threepio and Ben are just foregone conclusions waiting for SDCC or something.
