Star Wars Black Series

Agreed- Hasbro has really been knocking it out of the park with these Jedi figures, especially these last 3 ladies. All 3 are pretty high up on my list of favorite Jedi; something about the mix of traditionally feminine garments and almost religious/cultural garments has always really appealed to me. That may be an over-simplification of things and maybe not entirely the right descriptor, but that's the best way I can think of to put it, and I applaud Hasbro for going with those looks, especially for Barriss- more traditionally "feminine" figures belong on the shelf every bit as much as the guys or the action-oriented gals. Not to be that guy, but McFarlane would never make Luminara or Barriss- maybe Aayla, and maybe Shaak Ti in her odd Force Unleashed look, but not their dresses.
I'm with you, I love the garments as well. It feeds the world-building. And yes, good on Hasbro. It makes me hopeful we'll eventually see Padmé in her overdesigned (in good way) iconic dresses. That's one of the reasons I won't buy McFarlane figures, other than the occasional movie Poison Ivy and Batgirl and soon Pffeifer's Catwoman. Since I'm not really a huge DC guy, other than Batman and Legion of Super-Heroes, it's been an easy decision to avoid that line.

Black Series really has been great with non-action oriented characters, particularly the women. The new Leia, Mon Mothma, etc. have really been excellent. (I think there's really only been two or three McF DC characters that felt right.)

Yeah, Barriss, Jedi Temple Guard, Ronin, and according to YakFace, Dash Rendar is also going up for pre-order, since he's in the same case assortment. I'm in for all but Ronin.

Huh. I actually had Dash preordered already. He’s pre sold out on BBTS. Maybe this is an influx of availability.

Yeah, I feel like I already hemmed and hawed over Dash and decided to pass. That head just throws it too far off for me. But I'll be there for Barriss.

Trying to get some Temple Guards but Amazon says they are unavailable. Bet people found the page early and bought all of them. Yay.

I'm also debating taking my Celebration Ronin set back to Amazon. It is BEAUTIFUL but I just don't need it. That episode, which I finally watched, was fine.

BBTS still has them available for pre order. Yeah, they may be a little more there, but they're a little more "mom and pop" ish.

Got Barriss from Amazon and the Temple Guards from BBTS. Thought they sold out on Amazon, but now it sounds like maybe they never went up at all? If they do pop back up, I'll probably snag them there. I do love me some BBTS, but that Prime shipping's got my impatient ass in a chokehold.

I got x2 Temple Guards and x2 Barriss. I may end up getting another Temple Guard or two later on. But for now, 2 is good. This is such a good Wave with Barriss, Temple Gaurd, and Dash. I swear, I am enjoying Black Series so much these last 2 years.

Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed it the entire time. But the last couple of years they are kicking Galactic ass.

Don't know about you guys in the US, but so far here in Canada I am not seeing any of the new preorders selling out. Temple Guard is still available to preorder on Amazon.ca. Along with the rest of the wave.

Overall I really liked the reveals but The Ronin and Jedi Temple Guard were standouts for me. I have the Celebration exclusive version of The Ronin. However this colour version looks fantastic as well. I like the black robes and it looks like the non-soft goods robes will be pliable enough to allow for some range of motion.

The Jedi Temple Guard is also fantastic, but like most Star Wars Black Series figures now (for me) it is a wait and see if I can snag it without a preorder, preferably on sale.

I love the Halloween reveals as well. Ventress as a Witch and the Royal Guard as a Ghost were my favourites. I only have the Wookie from the Halloween repaints, and the Jawa as mini Santa along with the Purge Trooper as Nutcracker for the Christmas ones. All of them I picked up on sale/clearance so the same will have to hold true for these new ones if I am going to pick them up.

I caved on the color Ronin. Honestly, I have the black and white one and I don't think he'll ever NOT be on display in my office, I just love him and the droid as-is, but a full-color version will look more natural amongst other Jedi in displays and I'll enjoy having him standing next to Obi-Wan Kenboy and Ki-Adi-Mundi and such.
