Spinmaster Shapes Collection PlayStation Figures

Ha, good catch.

Yeah, I could do with variants of Jin. I'll take any designs from that setting.

I was really hoping for a Freya from Ragnarok, too.

Would also love to see someone take another shot at Assassin's Creed. Maybe the market isn't there, but recent games have been pretty Action Figurable for my tastes.
I think AC runs afoul of the same ongoing problem with a lot of modern video games; how do you make a compelling action figure for a character that has a thousand costumes? Your only option is basically to do 'box art' versions. And I'd hazard to guess that most people that are big enough fans to want action figures probably didn't stick with the box art version of the character for their entire playthrough.

I still feel like this is why Mass Effect has never had good action figure or statue merch and probably never will. Can't tell you how many times I've seen 'that looks cool, but it's not my Shep.'

But maybe I'm wrong - you can customize Kratos in the newer games and his figures seem to do okay. Jin seemed to sell well enough in his box art look (although I imagine a lot of people did play with him in that look or something very similar a lot of the time).

Yeah it's been a year since the first wave released, and since they never even revealed a wave 2, it's safe to assume that the line is dead for good. Too bad, so many good playstation studios games/characters they could have done :(

I really wish we got a Sam Bridges from Death Stranding, we only have the figma figure and that thing is way too expensive.

At least I got a great Aloy and a decent official Ellie and Joel. I was willing to ride with them.

Nothing gold can stay.

I would have loved Sam and Fragile and Mama.

Has it been a year already?

Wow. Yeah, I'm not expecting too much. Hell, I figured it wouldn't have come out at all, considering Spinmaster's record for these sorts of things. But ah well.

Would be a major bummer if the line really is dead. So many undone properties that are in dire need of figures. I'm sure its death would be from a combination of things, but I'd blame the lack of true marketing and slow rollout on these- I didn't see them hit GameStop until well after they'd been out online, and even then it was one figure at a time- Kratos, then Joel & Ellie. I think that's it, honestly. Don't remember ever seeing the others. They really needed to try and get these into WalMart, Target, maybe even Best Buy if they wanted a chance. Almost everyone I talked to about them, including major gamers and fans of the properties, had no idea they were even made.

My understanding is that this line is being 're-evaluated.' I don't know why or in what way. But it's not necessarily 'officially dead.' Although it could be as good as dead if, I'm guessing, someone doesn't come up with a really meaningful reason that it should continue.

If it's dead, it'll go down as another missed opportunity at PlayStation icons like Ratchet, Jak, and Sly Cooper.

I don't begrudge them Aloy or Jin, but Joel, Ellie, Kratos, and Atreus were already done by NECA. Varl was a terrible pick.

yeah they released sometime in July/August last year (except for the TLOU 2-pack, which came out in october I think).

Well, I'm glad we got what we got, I've enjoyed mine quite a lot, especially Aloy and Kratos. But it would have been amazing to get more. Personally, I think the line isn't dead yet, they're probably taking their time with it. To be fair their whole scheme with their kids lines is mold reuse to the extreme, so because these all have new molds maybe they take more time to design, develop and produce. It's not like they stopped making kids toys, so their production lines may be saturated.

What really bums me out is that the next lineup had a lot of what I was hoping for: Deacon St. John. Uncharted characters. Delsin from Infamous.

However, I think the issue is that they went too human.

We needed a Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank in there. The cutesy stuff.

I'll stay cautiously optimistic about the next wave just taking a while. I'd imagine it's a line that Sony itself would want a decent amount of input on, which I'm sure prolongs things too. Luckily, most of these properties are fairly evergreen- people will be wanting Last of Us, Uncharted, God of War, and lots of the earlier Playstation titles like Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, etc. until the end of time, really. Never underestimate a devoted gamer. Those latter 3 are the ones I'd really like to see most, just with all the nostalgia I have from my childhood alone. It's crazy to think that properties as big as Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper have never gotten true figures- just various statues and figurines over the years.

While Ratchet is the franchise I've spent the most time with, it's Sly Cooper that hits me right in the nostalgia bone.

I was wondering how those games hold up, but their Metacritic scores are great. I wouldn't mind a remaster/remake/sequel, but Sucker Punch, like Naughty Dog, has moved on to more serious projects.

I really hope you guys are right! I just got done playing Death Stranding 2 and man do I wish I had a Sam and a Higgs action figure

It's a virtual certainty that Death Stranding will not get figures even if this line continues. Which, itself, is seeming unlikely.
