Operation Monster Force

WARHAMMER SISTERS! Yes yes yes, that's what they look inspired by. I'm also wonderin how much skin will be showing (hard to tell if some of that armor is flesh or just smooth overlays). Not being a prude or a perv, more curious where FMF lands on that scale with their female figures.

(EDIT: Never mind posted just before wyldman posted the pic - I thought she was possibly gonna be showing some leg.)

Oh gross. I hate the exposed skin so much. Not in a prudish way, but in like a .. that looks terrible.. kind of way.

Yeah it just looks bad and while it’s not showing skin, it’s just showing skin to show skin.

In a line where everyone is pretty much covered head to toe in tactical showing skin feels off

Thanks! The preview of Adrian Van Helsing in Crimson Moon jumps at me most since I'm really looking for a Van Helsing that looks a bit more like old Abraham himself.

I don't dislike the skin showing on the figures, but I Think it works better on some than others. The little Red homage just feels like the type of thing we've seen before so it doesn't bug me (didn't McFarlane do that ages ago?). I do like that we're getting a Harker family member in there, that's fun.

Yeah, I don't care if Red shows some skin in her outfit - you can make that make sense. The battle nun just seems super weird doing it, though. And I also just don't think it looks very good within the context of the design itself.

There's no need for the nun to be showing skin (other than her face). In fact, it makes no sense. Yes, it doesn't really make sense for a nun to be combat-ready. But why wear all that body armor but leave skin exposed? Makes no sense and looks bad.

Yeah... I think I'll be buying at least one of the nuns - I like both of the heads without the gas mask, so I might buy 2 - but I might just paint the flesh parts black. It seems like that would have been an easy choice, but maybe they were afraid it would look too monolithic or blah without a secondary color too break it up.

At least the bare midriff from the concept art seems to be gone in the new render. Guessing the shoulders are still bare but hard to tell without colour. Shame the slightly more realistic armoured vest from the concept art was replaced with high-tech boob armour.

Their approach to the female figures in general hasn’t been as good as the rest of the line
Preach.

I was looking forward to Agent Harker since she was part of a group illustration on the Eagle Force wiki, and it's been downhill ever since.

She started as a hardboiled rockabilly punk with a katana, but the official figure drawing revealed a couple years back showed that edge kind of filed down.

Now that she's in a leather jacket and sports bra, I don't even know what to say.

I know this is exactly why toy makers don't reveal any part of the process before the figure release, so I'm trying not to be too harsh about the changes, but I *really* liked her initial illustration.

And for the record, here's the first public sketch for Red Riding Hood.

Between Harker, Red, the nuns and Miranda Seeke, FMF seems just incapable of modelling a woman with a covered belly. The nun is especially weird, but all are disappointing. I guess I should take a closer look at Mrs. Clause.

When's the watch party?

It might be awful, but I have heaps of respect for "hey, guys, let's make a movie" movies.

I played their cover of Like a Prayer for Steph the other day and she's like "is it weird that I think I like this version better?" Somehow making my very low-key librarian partner a fan of thematic/gimmicky symphonic metal bands, apparently.
It's SO good!
Oh no, their cover of Like A Prayer is -absolutely- better. They're also just like.. a great band that deserves more recognition for being legitimately talented.
PREACH! Love them!
My ex was in one of the worst nunsploitation films I've ever seen and I will never not laugh at being able to say that sentence.

The film: NUN OF THAT
That legit looks like someone did a fake grindhouse trailer that got rejected for the Tarantino/Rodriguez double feature.
First time I heard the cover I'm like "I LOVE this" and then I went down the rabbit hole of scooping up their albums. They're legit. Sometimes the gimmick is just a gimmick covering actual talent.
The ladies are truly great musicians, all around.
Oh yeah, they're so talented. I find a lot of gimmicky metal bands are really talented people that either just had a crazy idea and wanted to run with it (pirate metal, dwarf metal) or needed to do something to get noticed in the sea of 'everyone in this entire genre is really good at playing guitar.'
I'm a big fan of bands doing theatrical stuff, especially when it comes to hard rock & metal. I know many think it cheapens the music, but I don't feel that way. To me, it adds another layer that is highly entertaining. Considering how talented the girls in Dogma are, and how it was basically conceived as a Broadway type show to begin with, I think it is a perfect blend of theater and rock.
Oh gross. I hate the exposed skin so much. Not in a prudish way, but in like a .. that looks terrible.. kind of way.
For me, I look at it and think of how impractical it is from a tactical standpoint. Why wear armor when you're leaving massive patches of skin exposed?
Yeah... I think I'll be buying at least one of the nuns - I like both of the heads without the gas mask, so I might buy 2 - but I might just paint the flesh parts black. It seems like that would have been an easy choice, but maybe they were afraid it would look too monolithic or blah without a secondary color too break it up.
I'm thinking the same. I might even paint it another color just to give it some contrast. As long as it appears that the skin is covered, I'll be good.

"Everyone showing midriff" is a real weird design choice for the women. Especially when all the dudes are convincingly covered for combat.

Though, I'll say they might be moving a different way with the nun than the initial color illustration. They've added some covering in the render that would, at least, break up that exposed belly portion in the middle. So it's possible they're seeing this feedback and looking to course correct (boy I hope so).

Edit: @Spongyblue beat me to it.
