NECA - General Thread

Has anyone else who ordered from NECA on Alien Day gotten a shipment notice on their order? I know it's NECA, and their service is always a little unknown, just didn't know if mine was the unlucky one who fell between the cracks this time.

Just to follow up on this- I still hadn't gotten my order, so I went to check the tracking, and it hasn't updated since May 10th, aside from a little "en route" step that changes every single day to reflect the new date, but no new location. Been stuck in Illinois, which, from the look of things seems to be the warehouse; I figured maybe they just printed the label but didn't actually ship it yet, but the tracking did say it departed the warehouse and nothing since. The other day I went to check the tracking and it still hadn't moved, but there was a notification at the bottom of DHL's site saying "Your package could not be delivered". Don't know if this meant to my place or to USPS, who it was supposed to be handed off to. I reached out to DHL, and of course they say they'll only speak to the shipper, so I reached out to NECA, who replied short and pointedly "Be patient and the tracking will update soon".

Anyone else had something like this happen? I know NECA is notorious for wonky customer service, but they seemed to ignore the points I made about it saying it couldn't be delivered, and I don't want it to get sent back. Next week is 4 weeks since it supposedly shipped; isn't that a little long for a supposedly in-stock item to go just a few states over? By comparison, once I got shipping notices for the NBX bundle and Pamela Voorhees, they were delivered within 5 or so days. I know I don't always spring for the best shipping, but did they strap it to the back of a turtle?

Been obsessed with taking pictures of other action figures being hunted by xenomorphs lately because I find it kind of hilarious, and now I'm thinking I want to do the same with Predator. Any recommendations for the best NECA Predator option if I want a relatively generic, bog-standard Predator to have trying to hunt, like, Classifieds or Legends figures? There's so many and I know NECA can be hit or miss with things like posability. Really loving the Mirage turtles so I have more faith in them than I used to, so I'm wondering if there's a "not that one, THIS one" Predator folks recommend. (I could use another couple of xenomorphs, too, but I have one very used, very beat up alien that works really well as a solo hunter.)

To each their own, of course, but to me, the most "classic" Predator is the Ultimate Jungle Hunter from Predator 1. I only have him and the Feral Predator from Prey, though, to be fair, and Jungle Hunter isn't necessarily the most articulated, so if you're looking for posability, it may be better to look elsewhere. Feral Predator has some really nice imposing shelf presence, better articulation, and the swappable mandables allow for some cool variation in photos, I'd imagine. His accessories can be a bit tough to keep in place, though.

This perturbs me so bad about Neca. I've waited months before emailing about something that appeared to be stuck in transit or lost and get the snide "Be Patient" line. "Be Patient" is something you say to someone who is emailing right after it ships, not someone who has been waiting for months and is actually concerned it may be lost. It just really rubs me the wrong way. I want to tell them "I HAVE been patient, for weeks, and now I would like a real answer".

I second the Ultimate Jungle Hunter or the City Hunter.

That's my thinking too. I don't want it to get to the point where it's too late to do anything about it and get the classic "why didn't you reach out sooner?" line. I'm trying to be patient- really, I don't mind waiting, but I at least want to know that it hasn't just gotten lost or there's something I could be doing to help matters. It's not uncommon here in NY for things to either get lost, stolen, or I miss a delivery and it gets held at a post office with no notification to me and then it gets sent back. And not that I'm letting NECA themselves off the hook, but I've been noticing more and more that across the board, nobody wants to take responsibility for things. Nowadays I just get the run-around from places- delivery services tell me I have to contact the shipper for info, but when I contact the shipper, they say they can't do anything because it's in the delivery service's hands now. On and on until I either get the one nice employee who looks into things or it just gets worked out on its own.

That was my thing. I'd be fine waiting for months longer as long as I knew that everything was okay. Neca is so cryptic with shipping information. I think they print their labels at the factory now and they get put on there then, which explains why there is so much time between label created and actually shipping, but yours mentioned it had left the warehouse so I'm not sure what the problem is for you.

The last time I had a shipping issue with NECA it was through a Walmart.com order which made it kind of nice. It was similar to what Josh is dealing with now where I had tracking, but it didn't move for weeks after pickup. NECA actually got back to me quickly through Walmart to say it was likely lost and refunded me. I have a feeling if it was a direct sale through them I would have got the off-putting "be patient," response too. I swear NECA hates its customer base, or at least their CS reps do.

Thanks for the recs - I'd heard City Predator was one of the better ones for articulation (and Prey) but I have a soft spot for the original. Posing is my main focus though for pics so I'll probably pick up one of the others.

This shipping convo has convinced me to just pay a little extra through BBTS and get their gangster turtles through a seller I have a good customer relationship with instead of going direct.

Neca direct is always the last resort for me. I'd much rather deal with BBTS or anyone else that actually has helpful customer service.
