NECA - General Thread

It's certainly the softgoods; I can probably count on one hand the number of times I think softgoods have been implemented properly. But it's also the heads for me. It's not always the case, but I feel like more often than not they just look too bulbous. Maybe it's because they're dedicated sculpts designed to work on a basic, re-usable body, so they're quite literally not made for it, but so often they just look so big, even with the equally oversized softgoods. To a lesser extent, the hands as well- they so often just have the plain, kinda c-grip doll hands which I think really lack expression.

I think the only real exception to all that I can think of off the top of my head is the Captain Blake from The Fog. Because the softgoods are tattered, they don't look so tent-like, and his hands are uniquely sculpted. The head doesn't feel too too big either, even with the light-up eyes. I don't have him yet; haven't been able to find him for a decent price, but he's perhaps the only one so far I'd actually consider.

The classic retro Elvira is fantastic. That's a thin enough material that it hangs properly at the scale.
Haven't added her to the collection, but nice to hear the softgoods work well for her- that definitely boosts my interest a bit. Perhaps her added, ahem, "accessories" help with the taper of the fabric.

Finally got around to getting the figures out that I got while visiting home last week, including Red Death. Of course as soon as I go to pose him and put him on the shelf, his foot snaps off. Had to throw out the boxes back home in order to help them fit in my bag on the plane, so returning ain't an option. Oh well. Still a really cool figure otherwise.

Speaking of softgoods, the cape is gigantic- don't think I quite realized it was so big. Didn't realize it had the little black gems long the stitch line either, which looks really cool. Definitely think it's a smidge too big, accurate or not, so my argument about softgoods stands. Still really happy to have him, though.

Since Target is having their 25% off one toy sale, I'm debating finally picking up the Bride of Chucky 2 pack. Haven't gotten any Chucky figures for the horror shelf because I've been holding out for that one, but full price feels a smidge too much.

That happened with my Pinhead. I just bought a new one at Target, carefully checked the feet and rest of figure and returned the broken one in the new packaging back to Tar-jay.

Not a bad idea. But I also know my local Targets, and they put returned broken things back on the shelf all the time, and me being me, I'd always have that nagging feeling of feeling bad that someone bought a broken figure because of me. I may consider that, but I may honestly just glue the foot back on and live with it. This isn't one I see myself re-posing all the time, nor needing to strike any crazy poses.

My Ross had a b&w Dracula and Ash figures. Oh, and one of the Gargoyles. Run to yours if interested.

Break in such a way that if anyone else picks it up, they will immediately know it is broken. A foot already fell off, what’s a head or an arm at this point…

That sucks man. As careful as we know to be with Neca stuff, they still get you every once in a while. My OG Alien from Romulus came with 2 right forearms. I've been waiting to find one in store so I can exchange them. The cape on MotRD is definitely huge. That's why I decided to drape it handing away down over the front of each arm in the pic I posted a page or two back. It helps keep the rest of it from taking up a bunch of shelf space.
