NECA '87 Toon TMNT

I also got a quick response with the refund.

I am surprised the set is still up. I mean, it’s not essential but I actually think it’s less silly than some of the other sets.

With the vacation Bebop and Rocksteady, I feel like I’ll have seasonal figures to put on my desk for summer time every year now.

Still hope they put the van up again!

I love the set. I was in even at the higher price but the $40 refund sure was a nice gesture, whatever the motive behind it.

Set is now sold out. Also on another note it kind of bothers me that Mikey doesn't get a Hawaiian shirt.

I feel like simultaneously Mikey deserves a Hawaiian shirt, but also if one of them is going to refuse to put a shirt on, it's also Mikey.

No way. Raph is definitely the one that wouldn't want to wear a shirt.

I thought about that right after I posted. Picturing Raph with some mediocre tattoos on his shell, a barbed wire tattoo on his bicep, and getting mad when the roast beef restaurant on the beach's boardwalk refuses services when he won't put a shirt on to go inside.

Mikey, however, would wear a Hawaiian shirt an no pants just to make Leo and Don anxious.

Raph was such a sarcastic prick. I'm imagining toon Raph wearing what fits in and making fun of mikey for not wearing a shirt. "You're going to get sunburn; shoulda brought your turtle wax!"

Back to the toys, it's interesting seeing NECA fold like that. I wonder if it's to clear up space (big boxes), or to sell out ASAP to keep demand high, or what. Either way, hard not to see that as a win for the consumer, something not too common in the modern toy/collectible market.

Cut to me having a weird moment as a kid when I realized the turtles were all basically naked, but almost all of the other mutants wear clothes. Maybe it depends on if you were an animal that turned humanoid vs a human that turned animal? But I think Mondo was a lizard first not a human...

in the cartoon he was a lizard first, in the comics he was a dude. Maybe the scientist who mutated him was just far more modest than Splinter and made him cover up? Splinter probably struts around that sewer lair with his robe open whenever April’s not around.

I've been on a mission to document and inventory my whole figure collection and I'm currently working on the 87 TMNT line and I can't even remember which versions of the turtles I own. I wish I had kept better records but here I am. Does anyone know if the accessories were different on the bright green turtles between the 4 pack and the two packs?
