NECA '87 Toon TMNT

I say that but if you look closely at my collection pics in a few weeks you will see a suspicious and homely looking Grandma pushing an oversized ugly baby through my Neca street scene diorama. It may or may not be Bebop and Rocksteady.
 
I mean, this is the level of nuts I want the line to be. Goofy fun stuff is what the 80s toon was all about, so giving us a goddamn Rocksteady in a diaper and a granny Bebop? Yes please! Make the line FUN to collect. We can have normal versions every day, gimme this specific type of insanity to keep me happy. It's like Mo-Larr in the MOTU Classics line. It pleases me that this can exist in this world of collecting.
 
I want machine gun Granny from the first episode (I think it was), April's Aunt Agatha, and Shredder's mom in the line also. Bebop can't be the only Granny in the display.
 
I like these versions of the vacation Turts better than the Surf set (not sure I’m buying these either but I’m more likely to over top hat Leo and inconsistently topless/hatless, I repeat, hatless Mikey) and there’s no version of Bebop and Rocksteady I won’t buy… but yeah, hope we get Tempestra soon because this is the bottom of the barrel.

Did Viacom put restrictions or something on NECA they weren’t expecting? It feels like it went from “we can do whatever we want!” Space Adventure, Samurai Adventure… which I guess do sort of have president in the canon over all if not in those exact looks… toon Last Ronin teased but not released, Wyrum maybe if you want to look at it that way (but he’s from a chip commercial), and Dark Leo as a comic tie in… and then back to “hey! Remember when Leo wore a hat once in season 7? We made that!”

It feels like it went from a promise of “we can do all sorts of crazy stuff! Costumes and characters never done before in 87 style!” to a reality of “*sniff sniff* yeah I think this variant idea from an episode no one remembers is still good…”

That said… I still need Bebop and Rocksteady wearing suits from that one episode no one remembers (JK, everyone loves that fucking potato costume scene for some reason)
 
Well shit, I didn't even realize they were different from the SDCC Turtles. That is a particularly low move for Neca. These 2 pack ones are so much better than the ones I already bought AND are hitting stores earlier. The new Leo and Mikey are better because Leo doesn't have that stupid top hat and Mikey actually gets a shirt and shorts that match the rest. This isn't the kind of thing I need another set of either since it is such a similar thing. Really not happy with Neca right now.

Agreed.

This line has been successful for so long that it's done almost everything and can really dig in to the goofy, weird, fun stuff. I think that's what sells people on it as much as 'good versions of the Turtles.' Like, that only carries a line so far. This kind of stuff is not only hilarious, it's also amazing that it can even happen.

I'm still hoping that NECA feels the line has enough legs to make totally new sculpts for the Turtles at some point. I want NECA to give us the best possible version of the 'toon Turtles they are capable of doing from a design, articulation, and accessory standpoint. Three or four facial expressions for each Turtle, minimum. All their weapons. Weapon effects. Every hand-pose you can think of. Communicators. Better/more functional articulation. All of it.
 
These are fun and silly. Hope some new characters also come out at the same time.

Also, hope NECA reveals the kitchen or plans to re-release the van at SDCC next weekend.

Definitely a surprise. I don’t need multiple sets of vacation turtles so I don’t need the two-pack. The hats are clearly removable though so that’s a plus, unless they’re affixed to an eye sculpt. Granny Bebop and Baby Rocksteady is pretty good though, I might have to get that one.
 
Is there typical a fall Target Haulathon? When would these be likely to come out?

There is a Fall Geek Out every year, but NECA doesn't always participate. But with these leaking, I'd say yes, that seems likely. Unless it's a late Summer Haulathon? The last one was in March right? Was that Summer? I don't remember anymore.
 
The ones NECA partake in are Spring Haulathon and Fall Geek-Out.

So, yep, I'd expect to see this in October-ish.
 
Look at Bebop’s fake saggy granny boobs. Someone had to sculpt that! Someone had to OK that!
