Mini Comic Wave 2

Like many others, the mini-comic thing does absolutely nothing for me and seems like a waste. I might feel differently if there was a readable copy, whether in-hand or digital.

I love the BAF concept because there are so many figures that we would have likely never gotten otherwise. Now I do think they're minimizing BAF waves due to the additional cost and because they've come to the conclusion that they can sell most of the BAFs as deluxe figures at a deluxe price point anyway. However not all characters that have been BAFs would likely sell well as deluxes, but a character like Strong Guy might be a test for that theory.

I also think that the popularity of the retro card packaging helped them do less BAF waves. That retro card is more expensive that their normal packaging but seems to sell better. I don't believe that they've ever included a BAF piece on a retro card. It feels like at least for Spider-Man figures that they've gone almost exclusively to that retro card, with the exception of Gamerverse. X-Men seems headed that way also, for the most part. The first mini-comic wave was also on a retro style card, so I expect the 2nd to be also. I guess we'll find out very soon!

I think team completion needs to be considered if they're going to continue the BAF model. The mixed bag assortments may be appealing to some, but a themed wave is probably going to draw more people to complete the wave.
I'd like to see each wave have a team theme for at least 3 of the figures. The other 3 or 4 could be whatever. It's just satisfying to add more than one character to a team display every now and then vs building them one sporadic piece at a time.

I'd be way more interested in a retro carded Surfer than any other new variant (or worse, straight reissue). Seems like an easy, natural release

I'm FINE with the ideas of BAFs, but hate the implementation half the time. BAFs always fall into two camps... "Why isn't this just a deluxe release?" and "They could never sell this without it being a BAF." Someone like Thanos getting a BAF is a joke, and aftermarket hell. But something like Armadillo or Kree Sentry are PERFECT for a BAF.

That being said, it's not really added value unless you intend to buy more of the figures of the wave or really feel like going on the aftermarket for that character.

I love the baf concept and without it there is zero percent chance I'd have figures like Armadillo or Xemnu... figures I love. The baf was always the best hupe for figures I really want like Skurge, M'baku, Stegron, Swarm, Kurse, or Rockslide.

It never bothered me much because I was always buying the entire wave. The couple of times it was annoying was when they did mixed waves of half MCU and half comic with a comic based BAF. That was the first time I really had to buy figures I didn't want to build the baf I wanted. But even then I liked the BAF character.

Deluxe figures are well and good but they will always be bigger name characters and much less likely to be deeper cuts.

Well that all panned out as expected.

And… eh.

Like the DD, Rachel looks fantastic, and the rest, though I don't need them, seem pretty decent as options for folks who have missed previous versions (or fans of characters I'm not as into).

I’m extremely disappointed that we couldn’t get a super articulated silver surfer fig and instead Hasbro was content with just giving us another Surfer on the same Sunfire body for the fourth time in a row….

Jesus Hasbro this is not that difficult…

I think all of these are great, with exception of... well. Silver Surfer on that same god awful body. I just don't get it, the limbs are fine, it's just the torso that's bad... Why not just use one of the many modern Spidey molds????? Fuck, man.

So Silver Surfer is total reuse??

Yeah. It’s pretty much a direct reissue of the figure that was offered as one of the Herald tiers for the Haslab Galactus

Not to mention the Walgreens exclusive and Silver Surfer Black from that Donny Cates Thor comic

But pinless. I used to think that wasn't a big deal, but now I prefer it. They'll get me.

I’d rather have him on a super articulated body so he can actually crouch on that surf board also some new power effects that we haven’t seen before would be nice. Also is it too much to ask for a magnetic board that he can cling to? Those foot pegs are not the greatest. They’re basically one time usage because they warp the peg holes

I'm fine with Surfer being on this body rather than something like the RYV Spidey body, for the neck hinge alone. He needs to be able to look up from his board in a crouching pose. I would have preferred a bigger body like Vulcan, but I can live with this.

Rachel looks excellent, as does Feral, as much as I don't care for her as a character. I'll get her to complete the roster. Love that Rachel comes with two heads, one of which I will put on an extra retro card Dark Phoenix I bought specifically for Rachel.

Beast looks excellent. Smart reuse and retooling of the body, nice alternate head, good variety of hands. Can't wait to add him to Cyke and Emma and Wolverine.

Black Widow looks perfect. Might look for a soft goods leather coat for her, but I love her as is on that body with that head. All A+ stuff.

Daredevil is a left field version, but welcome. Looks great, and puts a bit more pressure on me to finally read that arc.

I actually would have preferred Shadowland Daredevil over tracksuit Matt Murdock. This look has been so overdone thanks to the Netflix adaptation that I’m kind of ready to see other legitimate costumes. Hell I would have been stoked if we got a 2.0 of the Fall from Grace costume
