Mini Comic Wave 2

But for the love of god, please stop making female figures that can't move at the waist!
For all the torso crunch the ladies get, it may as well be a waist swivel instead.
With Hasbro working two years ahead on figures, they could be slow-rolling improvements until they hear if their customers like said improvements before going all-in because then they have a year+ of releases on bodies customers hate. Feedback does matter?
I dunno. You're telling me they have no awareness of industry trends? Jada, Storm, SHF, etc. have been using double torso joints for years. Even their own GI Joe brand. It's clearly the way forward.

This is exactly right. They do make improvements to the line, they just take their sweet time and it's often quite uneven. Gamerverse Wolvie is the figure that I've had the most fun messing with since I got him,
But he's huge.
So Hasbro goes all out on a decent improvement to a character, but makes it in a form that is either only usable the one time OR will be a whole different problem if they decide to just keep using it. Within the context of 'we only get so many unique sculpts and bare minimum articulation upgrades every year' - throwing any of it away on essentially a one-off feels beyond ridiculous and kind of infuriating.

Yeah, I forgot I had ordered this wave at Walmart because it was cheaper than Amazon... receved the entire wave from Amazon weeks ago and just got shipping confirmation from Walmart. Sigh.

Got this wave a while ago in the giant Hasbro Pulse deluge. I waited until the kids’ winter vacation to open up a lot of stuff. Fun wave overall, but I wish there was a BAF since I ended up getting the whole wave anyway.

Astonishing Beast—As I wrote earlier, Beast came out great! My favorite in the wave. I love how poseable he is despite his large torso and limbs. This is some nice engineering! Both head sculpts are great. I read the Astonishing arc back in the day. Looking forward to getting Colossus and Kitty. It would be cool to get Ord and Danger.

Black Widow—Is the figure I was looking forward to the most, and she is very cool. This body is super poseable. And she has so many great accessories. This is the costume she wore when I first learned about Widow. She guest starred in Iron Man’s comic in the 90s. Black Widow and Modular Armor Iron Man vs Classic Titanium Man! And then Crimson Dynamo Mark V showed up. Such an action packed arc. Of course I’m still obsessed with getting Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo in Legends!

Rachel Phoenix— I don’t really know Rachel in this costume. I’m mostly familiar with her from Avengers vs X-Men. Seemed crazy that a telekinetic could fight Thor. I like this costume. I think her fully masked look from the cover of the comic looks even better, so it would have been cool to get an alternate head with the mask. The tiny spikes and flame wings look great. She’s an eye catching figure. And I have the rest of Excalibur anyway.

Silver Surfer— Looks great with this metallic silver. Probably the best a Silver Surfer yet, but I would like a bigger version of him like using the Vulcan body. I think of Surfer as being taller. Still, he was one of my most anticipated in the wave.

Feral— I got her to complete X-Force. Looking her up online, it sounds like she is controversial both for murdering a lot of people and as a copy of Wolfsbane.

Daredevil— Interesting look for Daredevil. It’s the Zorro/Dread Pirate Roberts aesthetics that made me want this one. All the articulation is great except the limited torso. But he can still get into dynamic stances. Not sure where to put him though besides just generally with the street level heroes.

I don't disagree at all - he might be the right size for a MvC Wolverine, but he's not becoming my default for this costume. But it is a great figure on its own that I've had a ton of fun messing with, and its great to see them show off what they can do with these innovations that they're late to adopt but can still improve on (the crouch he gets is crazy impressive). I actually don't like the cup shoulder joints that replace the butterfly, but I don't mind - it's just nice to see them trying new stuff. If they do try to make this the "default" Wolverine body, then no thanks - I'm not rebuying a dozen Wolvie costumes that look like Sabretooth playing dressup. Give me ridiculous feral 90s Wolverine on this body first, then take all the things that work and make a new buck that's several inches shorter.

I think for a-listers in general I'm more forgiving since we have so many options and they'll always make another. It's much more frustrating to me when they skip basic articulation or important details on figures that we're only getting one crack at - X-Factor Jean got a torso crunch and butterflies (yay!) but they missed her boots (boo). Rachel Summers has a great sculpt, effects pieces, and portraits, but no butterflies and she can't move at the waist (look, I'm on-topic to the thread!). Etc etc.
