McFarlane DC Multiverse

I have a lot of bones to pick with the line overall but it really has done a good job with Batman rogues. I think the only character I'm openly unhappy with from his classic villains is Clayface because mine fell to pieces out of the box and I didn't care to replace him (and in hand he kind a looked like... something worse than clay). Recent pickups of Scarecrow, Riddler, Two-Face, and Penguin... I'm pretty happy with them all together on a shelf. Wish we got a Catwoman with less of the diaper-y looking design but at least they made my favorite costume of hers.

For consistency's sake, I really hope McF gives us a Silver Age purple-dress Catwoman, before we're done. So many Catwoman looks, it's surprising we haven't gotten more of them.

Got my Scarecrow, happy with him overall, but could have used some extra hands. The skull accessory is a bit undersized for a human head, but I'll likely use it somewhere else anyway.
It's supposed to be one of these little guys for distributing his fear gas:

The description says Teen Titans #44. Can’t post a pic, but the cover is pretty innocuous from 1976. It does have Dick in his speedos on the cover. The team is fighting Dr. Light. Donna is in her red costume with the yellow stars.
That cover also has Mal as Guardian, so that could be an easy repaint of the Guardian we just got.

I haven't liked any of Todd's Mega Figs so I don't have a Man-Bat, Croc, Clayface or Bane, and I do consider those characters vital to a Batman Villains display, but I don't buy figures I don't like the look of just to fill in holes in my collection, so I just have to live without them in my McFarlane DC display.
Props on not buying but I'm curious what it is about those specific figs you don't like enough to leave your shelf incomplete? The height? The weight? Oversculpting, undersculpting? They are in the same style as the rest of the line so just curious.

BB has my Scarecrow stuck in shipping, and my Returns Catwoman and Batman in pre-order purgatory.

I can answer that question for myself in regards Man-Bat and Bane - I don't like the character designs they did for those guys. I also don't think those two specifically don't need to be so big. Clayface, on the other hand, I liked a lot.

And as for Croc, I'm completely happy with the DCC Arkham Origins one I've had for years.

The only MegaFig I've really been enamored by is the Arkham Croc. I just love the Arkham designs in general, but it's nice to have a Croc that doesn't feel too fragile. I still have all my old DCD Arkham Figures, and a lot of the larger ones have had the pegs deteriorate over time, so I can't really move them. In that regard, it's nice to have a (more or less) appropriately sized Croc that has some good articulation. Also why it was such a bummer that Todd made Grundy so undersized. I absolutely love the original figure- don't think anything will ever top it, but it's another casualty of those old pegs. Ah, well- he's still got great shelf presence in a vanilla pose.

The MegaFig Bane is decent as well. I've seen a few folks convert theirs into a B&R Bane, so if Todd never gets around to making him, I may try the same. I'm fine with the size discrepancy- it oddly feels more acceptable on a character like Bane than it does the other way- an undersized Alfred/Gordon/Blake.

Pre-ordered the '66 Batmobile and already got the shipping notice!

No movement though on the Batman Day Bundle with Failsafe, Scarecrow, etc......

Got in Batman Returns Penguin.

Sigh. The McFarlane MO: so close, yet just missing the necessary details to make what could be a great figure and turn it into just an okay figure.

Again, the fully sculpted left hand with five fingers is just...sticks in my craw.

Missing the white dots on the tie.

Can put pinstripes on Max Shreck's suit, but not Penguin's pants. Just little things like this really show how lazy and/or cheap Todd has gotten but are big enough to bother me.

So I made a few changes to my Zero Hour Superman figure yesterday. I wasn’t a fan of the bronzed flesh tone that Todd applied to the original figure so I swapped out the head, neck and the hands with the Task Force Superman and it looks way better. And as I previously mentioned I used a spare Christopher Reeve cape that I had lying around and I really like the results. Also as a plus side the shade of blues on this figure and the JLTF Superman are pretty much identical so it’s like I have the perfect 1:1 Superman from that era but without the pixelated detailing

Pretty much what Shinigami said, I don't need any of them except Clayface to be that large. I prefer a bigger than average dude size for Bane and Croc, not 10 feet tall and 6 feet wide. I hated Man-Bats wing design, and I do not like Clayface's design at all. I would have preferred something a bit more focused and iconic, the sculpt is just trying to do too much at once for my tastes.

I call those my Nerdy Nitpicks- things that your average person or collector probably wouldn't care about, but we true nerds really care about. Sometimes so uber specific, but that's what makes them all the more meaningful.

Disappointing to hear that Penguin is missing some crucial details. I think the old Mattel Multiverse figure was the same way- missing those extra paint apps. I think only NECA did it correctly in their 12 inch figures; maaaybe Beast Kingdom- can't recall currently. If you're gonna go that far to acquire the license, get likeness rights, make new molds, and so on, you might as well go that extra little mile. Not like we're not paying a premium already.

Gonna wait until I have them all in hand to make up my mind, but I feel bad for everyone who really looked forward to the figures and are feeling let down.

The fact that penguin doesn’t have the flipper digits on his hand is mind boggling. That’s like THE detail about the Danny DeVito penguin is known for. Welll, that and a few other lewd things that we won’t discuss here.

Lewdness aside, that does remind me; anyone have any ideas for a good in-scale fish for him to gnaw on, preferably one with a chunk taken out of it? Whenever I'm able to pick up a loose onesie Penguin, I wanna try and have him holding it.
