McFarlane DC Multiverse

I agree on the Legends of the Dark Knight figures, though. If I didn't know any better, I'd have sworn that Todd had something to do with them back in the day. They're definitely right up his alley.
I always thought it was a response to how his figures upended the market.

Even Toy Biz tried it with some of the X-Men waves, like the Danger Room one. Detailed at the cost of preposes and articulation.

The early 2 waves were basic figures, but I feel like Wave 3 onward is where he started leaning into Drama over Function.

I’m pretty sure it was. Spawn changed the game. Especially wave 2 and after.

Hasbro got more creative and made bigger DC figures.

DCD was born in the wake of Spawn in 1998. Running until 2020. Todd taking it over in 2021.

Most importantly, Toy Biz/Marvel Toys began experimenting with articulation. Eventually leading to Spider-Man Classics which lead to Marvel Legends. And Marvel Legends being the most successful Superhero toy line of all time. With Hasbro replacing Toy Biz/Marvel Toys in 2007. Marvel Toys folded soon after.

Yeah, I got the Scarecrow today as well.

He may not be skinny, but he’s the best damn Scarecrow figure of all time and it’s not close. Definitely a “horror’d up” version of classic Crane and he is scary and awesome. My wife digs him too.

Got my Scarecrow, happy with him overall, but could have used some extra hands. The skull accessory is a bit undersized for a human head, but I'll likely use it somewhere else anyway. No major complaints besides he's super stiff when posing. Happy to be able to cross a "good enough" Riddler, Croc and Scarecrow off the list. Now bring on Ivy, Harley, Catwoman, Black Mask, Hugo Strange (as Hugo Strange), Ventriloquist, Ras Al Ghul, Mad Hatter and possibly a better comics Penguin that's less vintage.

I think I'm passing on Prof. Pyg, never read anything with him in it beyond as a background character.

Agreed about the hands- especially for holding the skull, since it kinda just has to rest on top of his hands and falls out super easily. I'm still not entirely sure if it's supposed to be an actual human skull or one of his little fear toxin skulls. Those usually, but not always, skewed a little more mechanical. If that is what it is, would've been nice to get a little gas effect coming out of the eyes or mouth. Agreed that he's one of the best we've gotten; if only he had extra hands and pinless joints, he may be darn near perfect!

Really looking forward to adding her to the shelf. Much as I don't care for the movie, that look has become iconic in its own right (for better or worse). Still have the other 2 Margot Harleys, but I'm hoping this may turn out to be the best yet.

Got Scarecrow today too! He's definitely... just fitter than I'd usually want for Scarecrow but I like him best of the options in this line (I'm kinda caving and just want ONE good version of each major Rogues Gallery villain and he was the one Batman baddie I was missing). I'm glad I went with this one. Just looks like his been doing some crossfit, it's okay.

Also got Guardian, who continues a trend of figures I like vest in this line - the simpler the more fun I find them. Guardian is right up there with Wildcat for being very satisfying to pose and mess with. Glad I didn't quit trying to get him.

I swore I had enough Batman figures, but I added No Man's Land Batman to my order to get free shipping and aside from wishing his cape ws wired I think he's my favorite Batman so far. Just the right base body, the right combo of blue and gray, really dig him. Doesn't have the tacticool/battle armor look that a lot of the bucks I liked best prior to this have, which I really like.

I probably should've grumpily held off on Cheetah because of those ugly boots/reuse, but she's on my short list of female characters I really need before the series ends. She should be here tomorrow.

Add one more to the Scarecrow train. I love him to death, even though I would have liked more hands. Todd's obsession with trigger-finger hands continues. I was able to get him to hold the skull by the jaw so he can do the ol' "Alas, Poor Yorick" bit. All I need now is Ivy and my Batman Rogues will be done. Well, done enough at lleast. I haven't liked any of Todd's Mega Figs so I don't have a Man-Bat, Croc, Clayface or Bane, and I do consider those characters vital to a Batman Villains display, but I don't buy figures I don't like the look of just to fill in holes in my collection, so I just have to live without them in my McFarlane DC display.

I've been kicking around the idea of getting movie Harley. Suicide Squad is a movie I don't have plans to watch again but Robbie was good in it. I used to have the other two versions of movie Harley but they weren't that great so I unloaded them. This one looks like something that would hang around my collection for a while.

I'm impatient for my Scarecrow to arrive. I think McFarlane has done good by many of the classic Batman rogues. This new PP Joker appears to top the digital Joker (mine is on the way too), classic Riddler and Penguin are pretty excellent, Mr. Freeze with the animated colors (while not really accurate to anything) is incredible, I like the mega Bane, Croc, and Clayface figures.

I am pretty happy with the Bat- rogues at this point. Apart from comic book Ras most have been covered. I could always use another but overall pretty happy with the shelf. Hey, anybody think that rumored Dick Grayson Robin will be for the 66 mobile that is up for PO today? I could see that, keeping fingers crossed for comic book classic.

The description says Teen Titans #44. Can’t post a pic, but the cover is pretty innocuous from 1976. It does have Dick in his speedos on the cover. The team is fighting Dr. Light. Donna is in her red costume with the yellow stars.

I have a lot of bones to pick with the line overall but it really has done a good job with Batman rogues. I think the only character I'm openly unhappy with from his classic villains is Clayface because mine fell to pieces out of the box and I didn't care to replace him (and in hand he kind a looked like... something worse than clay). Recent pickups of Scarecrow, Riddler, Two-Face, and Penguin... I'm pretty happy with them all together on a shelf. Wish we got a Catwoman with less of the diaper-y looking design but at least they made my favorite costume of hers.
