I posted about this in the actual movie thread, but one of the main Amazon execs has been pretty clear that they're fine with the way it's going, and they expect the movie's reputation to not only continue to drive interest at the theater and when it hits streaming, but just more generally toward the brand. Seems like this is the beginning of a strategy rather than a one-and-done.With how lackluster the film's performance has been, how long might Chronicles be for this world, I can't help but wonder. Maybe it'll do well streaming and keep the flame going though, we'll see.
I also have heard from a reliable source that Mattel is very pleased with the performance of the movie product so far. So even if the movie isn't doing well, which can be debated until the end of time, the merchandise is doing great. No reason Mattel would stop making product, although maybe they'd pivot to non-movie Chronicles stuff like KG and Scareglow, if the movie really does do poorly.
