I'm very glad to know that 5" is enough... but why do I still want to collect 6" or bigger?
All jokes aside, these look good for the basic kids line. The lack of ankle joints for a kids line is idiotic, I remember me as a kid playing with my Harry Potter and Star wars figures wishing they had more articulation, like my toybiz figures did. That included ankle joints. But the proportions look decent, and adding ankle joints with replacement import joints is not too hard with a dremel, so I might get the occasional character or two.
The new MOTU figures honestly impressed me, I mean this is Mattel we're talking about. Import joints?! I expected cheap insert-molded double joints like marvel legends. If this is the direction they're taking with DC for the collector line, then I'll definitely be more interested. Will these be better than my Mafex figures, of course not. But as others have said, I also like playing with my toys, taking them places in my pocket and posing them around. I can't do that with my imports, or at least I don't want to. But with decent Mattel figures, well it could be done.
Man at Arms even looks to have balljoints at both the abs and the waist! The only thing I wish he had was toe joints, but even so, it's really impressive. And they look to be decently painted as well, and the likenesses could improve in the final product, as they depend on the actual print work being nice and tidy.
