Mattel DC Figures

Mattel does great monster/creature/non-“pretty” headsculpts, though. And the Masterverse Keldor is *smoking* hot,

My best friend is deathly in love with Keldor and lost her shit when the New Eternia figure was announced. I'm the same with Evil-Lyn, and love her headsculpt. THAT'S the quality I want from DC.

I am very prone to buying cheap toys, I picked up one of the Lanner Predator figures and loved it (and honestly, I wish they did more lol.) I've always kinda been tempted by the Sega figures any time I'm in Wal-Mart... But I'm trying not to get too many more 5 inch figures outside vintage figures.

I'm very glad to know that 5" is enough... but why do I still want to collect 6" or bigger?

All jokes aside, these look good for the basic kids line. The lack of ankle joints for a kids line is idiotic, I remember me as a kid playing with my Harry Potter and Star wars figures wishing they had more articulation, like my toybiz figures did. That included ankle joints. But the proportions look decent, and adding ankle joints with replacement import joints is not too hard with a dremel, so I might get the occasional character or two.

The new MOTU figures honestly impressed me, I mean this is Mattel we're talking about. Import joints?! I expected cheap insert-molded double joints like marvel legends. If this is the direction they're taking with DC for the collector line, then I'll definitely be more interested. Will these be better than my Mafex figures, of course not. But as others have said, I also like playing with my toys, taking them places in my pocket and posing them around. I can't do that with my imports, or at least I don't want to. But with decent Mattel figures, well it could be done.

Man at Arms even looks to have balljoints at both the abs and the waist! The only thing I wish he had was toe joints, but even so, it's really impressive. And they look to be decently painted as well, and the likenesses could improve in the final product, as they depend on the actual print work being nice and tidy.

I'll probably go to action figure collector Hell for saying this, but if you take the designs in those images, add a thorax ball joint and butterfly joints, make them Marvel Legends height, and price them at 27 bucks for when they reveal the adult collector versions later down the line? I'm gonna buy a fucking lot of them.

To be fair, I don't know Idris Elba—he of Fast & Furious, Beast, and Cats fame—as an actor of particularly discerning taste.
I think Idris has the same philosophy of Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson - you never know when the next paycheck will stop coming in as an actor so you always take a role if it's offered. Caine saying he'd never seen Jaws the Revenge but the house it paid for is beautiful is exactly the kind of attitude it takes to make a living as an actor. I respect the fuck out of being talented but willing to slum it with genre films.

My thoughts exactly. I was secretly blown away by their MOTU movie stuff. I'm quietly moving into "cautiously optimistic" territory.

I can't wait to have my heart broken again.
