I get it. I mean, when I was a kid I dug the original Conan movies, but it really bugged me that he had brown hair in the flicks instead of black, because he was always described that way in all of the books. It wasn't a deal-breaker, but it's kinda like casting someone with brown eyes to play Sinatra...he's Ol' Blue Eyes for a reason!Elba’s awesome. The only issues I tend to have is if there is something that I consider an iconic trait of the character or the character’s design that is changed but that typically comes from a design or story standpoint and not a casting standpoint. And for those instances I will typically still give the movie a chance.
In modern times, I haven't cared much for the MCU's take on Flash Thompson, not because they changed his race, but because Flash not being a big ol' muscleheaded jock just doesn't seem right. Didn't ruin those films for me, but it is one aspect of them I don't care for.
The iconic traits are really way more important than what color the skin is...UNLESS it's important to the character. 99% of the time, it really isn't important at all.
