Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

Yeah, I like Clamp Champ a lot more when you dump the claws. I kind of think of him as an apprentice to Duncan. He at least blends in with the existing crew, sharing that Fisto armor. Rio Blast though? I think space cowboys are fine, he just fits less with MotU than he does something like COPS or even Silverhawks. Cowboys seem like too much of an Earth reference. Everyone else is some kind of anthropomorphic hybrid or a cyborg with future tech or a straight forward barbarian.

I have no attachment to some of the later year releases, the robot members of the Horde, the Snake Men, the spinny guys, even the Rock Men. My bread and butter is the animal hybrids and cyborts.

I loved Rio-Blast as a kid. I don't mind him being in MOTU, as the line is very much "everything goes." If Eternia can have a ninja, which is very earth-based, it can have a cowboy. If you're trying to wrap your head around it, Marlena could have brought all kinds of Earth knowledge and references to Eternia, and those stories spread out across the land. Also, if she's able to come to Earth, maybe media/transmissions have also been able to get to Eternia. Influencing Eternians and then taking on a life of their own.

I was never aware of Clamp Champ as a kid. Not sure why? As an adult, I don't think I've ever really liked his action features/accessories. I don't mind the concept but maybe just the execution.

Clamp Champ is kind of all over the place. He doesn't have a unifying color scheme (I guess red blue and silver is a choice), a unifying design theme (what does his neutral blue vest have to do with clamping?), a boring, standard head sculpt, and his clamp accessory sucks. I have better clamping tools in the kitchen utensil drawer. Clamp Champ, more like Clamp Chump! 👑

Give him a NE makeover and I'll give him another chance.

That is the correct answer!
betrayal speed run new record 😭 you didn't even have a chance to watch all six seasons of HG-WT! 😂

I’m sure he’s awesome, but you gotta dig:
Doc Holliday is my cowboy Batman. He’s the tops and there’s just no topping. GOATiest GOAT that ever GOATed.

Legit, I think it’s one of the top male supporting performances of all time, like on the level of Rush in Quills or Ledger in The Dark Knight.

It's apples and oranges definitely but respect to a legend in his best role, I certainly can't argue against it!

It helps that Doc didn't have a Chinese butler he called "Hey Boy." But it was the '50s, it was a different time. XD

Similarly, I don't love Ninjor. That was clearly an attempt at cashing in on the ninja popularity of the '80s. It was towards the end of the line, and you could tell they were running out of ideas.

Yet I have no real issue with Jitsu, who is clearly samurai/martial arts influenced.

Yeah Ninjor was not for me as a kid. I dig him *now*, largely because he has had banger figures in recent lines. The Masterverse figure is totally badass, irrespective of MotU.

Buuuuuut, yeah: the more “real world” the references, the less likely I was to dig on the figure. “Marlena is from Earth, actually” is one of my least favorite parts of the lore.

Like y'all wouldn't be salivating for a New Eternia Rio Blast! I mean, if nothing else, don't tell me you wouldn't be at least curious about what he looks like. Meanwhile we're talking about Wundar who is just He-Man with Zodac's vest but somehow he's better than a fast-draw cowboy doing his best to keep up with MOTU freaks?
I don’t like Wundar either tbh. He’s only interesting because he’s a weird rare exclusive tied to bread imo.

I also feel exactly the same about these two. I’m kind of surprised we never got “good karate guy” that’s just a muscled Asian guy with a head band in some kind of white gi sort of costume.

Well, that's fun.

Just had Walmart cancel my Vintage Man-At-Arms and Stratos orders for "payment issues".

Uhm...there were no attempts on my card that has plenty of dinero, so...the lie detector has determined that THAT was a lie.

I HATE Wal-Mart! I HATE their pre orders, because they fail 94.7% of the time. I'm expecting cancellation on my MAA and Stratos at any moment.

I'm sorry that happened man. It's so annoying.

Sorry to hear that. Totally forgot these are supposed to ship out soon. Hopefully it's available and easy to buy like they have been in the past.

I saw some people saying they found the newest Masterverse wave with Mantenna at Target. But the annoying people are going bananas over finding Ninjor at ROSS. I guess I shouldn't be mad at them, but mad at Mattel for it's usual bang-up bad distribution where one of the most popular figures they've released in the line spends two days at retail and goes straight to discount so people can feel justified skipping this line and waiting for discount.

Walmart is the WORST! Just horrible. When you preorder, and have to automatically assume it will be canceled, that is a completely shitty system. I'm honestly more surprised when I DO receive something I preordered at this point.

I fully don’t expect to get Stratos from them. My Masterverse enthusiasm has been lower lately so I won’t be despondent but he’s my favorite supporting character and a cancellation will make me hate Walmart more.

I’m really regretting not preordering anti eternia He-Man though.
