I agree with you but also don't see the distinction.I don't think of Maximum or Magic pricing as testing the waters so much as conditioning. When a basic jumps to $30 folks will feel at least it's not $40.

I think Chooch is saying it's not a test. This is just the new reality. They'll use Max pricing to justify higher regular pricing, rather than using it as a test to see if people will accept higher prices. Because they don't actually care if people accept it. It's, granted, a small distinction, if I'm reading him correctly.I agree with you but also don't see the distinction.
They kind've don't, actually.Do they not want to be in the retail business?
Ok we're saying the same thing. I didn't use the phrase 'testing the waters;' I used gauge. I do think they're asking a question but internally. They will get data from Max sales and these will be used to gauge how much they can push the pricepoint on general releases. With a $25 differential between Max and standard they've given themselves lots of room to play. I agree the standard pricepoint increase is inevitable but think they will gauge from these data how much to increase it (e.g. closer to $50 if Max sells no worse than standard)Yep! They're not asking a question, they're conditioning the future response to their inevitable actions.
Depends on the card, text and card art but yeah it can be.Is a card really worth more than a BAF piece? Asking for a non-Magic The Gathering person.
I was one of them. Better to lock it down and be able to back out versus wanting it and then it's already fugazi.Deadpool is listed as Sold Out on EB Games site. The same thing happened with Spider-Man and it came back in stock routinely...
I hadn't thought of them using it to scale how big the price increase is, but that makes sense. Especially with a $40 and $50 option on the table. They can triangulate well from there.Ok we're saying the same thing. I didn't use the phrase 'testing the waters;' I used gauge. I do think they're asking a question but internally. Not sure what the last part there means... if I can sell the card for $15 bucks or there abouts, that will bring the cost of the figure to essentially regular price. I imagine they'll probably end up netting closer to $5 or $10. I've never sold any of my extra BAF parts... I have a bag of them. I can't bring myself to part with them in the impossible event that one of those exact parts were to break on a fully constructed BAFDepends on the card, text and card art but yeah it can be.
What do you usually sell unwanted BAF for? It used to be like five bucks Canadian but around covid it crept up to 10 and then people are trying to get 15 and 20 now.
I'm usually cool with asking 5-10 unless it's like a rare older piece.
Some cards are worth more than that to people.
And as I explain all that you're asking about from there end, aren't you.
Pulse lowered their prices
Or shoot a message and they'll adjust. I've done it.They didn't lower the price on my preorder. I guess you have to cancel and reorder.
That's b.s. Totally screwing over people that don't recheck their oders. They didn't lower the price on my preorder. I guess you have to cancel and reorder.
