Marvel Legends Maximum Series

The Magic pricing just smacks of internal accounting practices where each division needs to make its money on the release, which is silly since it's all one company. Hasbro breaks it up for their shareholder reports though and with Magic riding high lately they probably don't want to do anything to harm the brand's balance sheet.

Is a card really worth more than a BAF piece? Asking for a non-Magic The Gathering person.
Guess it would depend on the aftermarket for the cards. If any of them have any utility in Commander, they might be worth a bit. (The Man-Wolf one is trickier to gauge, as it's a reskin of an existing, albeit well-known card that sees some format play.)

So as non-Magic playing parent to a Magic the Gathering enthusiast, the answer is 'it depends on how useful the card is' If the card is useful or powerful and unique to the acrion figure release then Yes... it may very well be worth $15. If the answer is no, the card is only marginally useful or has a power/ability duplicated by other cards in the set, then NO.

Ideally for us, the cards will be powerful/useful and unique, That way we can flip them to gamer comrades to alleviate the price bump. Cards are cheap to ship, as well, so no big shipping cost add on.

Magic's such a big area for them right now, between all the IP releases and the popularity of Arena, which has just so much less overhead compared to what they manufacture.

A friend of mine collects Magic cards and I can definitively say: maybe. The print runs on cards are way higher than the print runs on action figures, so it's certainly possible these end up being some of the rarest Magic cards. The question is more about if anyone will care. If enough Magic fans want those in their collection, and they're effectively fairly limited in availability since they only come with those specific figures.... it's certainly possible the cards by themselves could go anywhere from 5-500 dollars. Just depends.

I wouldn't like... be a fucking idiot and treat toys or cards like an investment opportunity. So don't buy a figure thinking the card will pay for the figure. But it -might-.

Yup, and I think they print all or most of the cards in the US so it has tariff immunity. It's been a big money maker for Hasbro going back to COVID.

It has propped up a lot of quarterly reports over the past several years as the traditional toys and games decline in popularity.

Incidentally, if anyone's trying to figure out if they can recoup that difference on the included cards, here are a couple of resources.
This will show you if they're getting comparative levels of play in the biggest Magic format: https://edhrec.com/

(So far it looks like Anti-Venom's your best bet.)

Thank you for this. It would be really nice to be able to recoup a few bucks on these to bring the base figures closer to the cost of a standard Legend.

I just pre-ordered 27 Anti-Venoms. Should be able to retire next year on these. Don't let me down, SWL. I trusted you.

Deadpool is listed as Sold Out on EB Games site. The same thing happened with Spider-Man and it came back in stock routinely...
