Marvel Legends Maximum Series

I bought Maximum Spidey as well. He is now my favorite Spider-Man in my collection, but certainly $15-$20 overpriced. However if I had to do it all over again then I'd still be more likely to buy him at $50 than I would be to pay the $50 for the Renew Your Vows 2-pack or $28 for Amazing Fantasy Spidey, which I believe were the retails costs for those figures when they were released. To be honest, I'm one of those people that think all the figures are overpriced now. If I knew 25 years ago that the figures that I started collecting at $7.99 would eventually be over $25 I may never have started collecting. I also never dreamed the line would last this long.

I'm much more skeptical about the Hulk. I've got him pre-ordered for the reduced $50 at Best Buy (instead of the $60 everywhere else) but it's 50/50 that I cancel right now before he comes out. I figure that I've got about a month yet to decide for sure and online reviews should be hitting before that. If I can really get him at $50 like the BB pre-order shows, I'll probably keep it - but if ends up being $60 there too then that small will difference will likely be enough where I'll probably cancel or return.

Got an email from Pulse that he is shipping soon....but nothing in the last few days. I am pumped and getting antsy now. Yeah it's punishment on the wallet short term, but overall this is the version of Spider-man I was obsessed with for a long time. Looking forward to Hulk too. 3 characters a year done well leaves me feeling overall happy as a fan.

Latest email I got from Pulse is that Max Spidey is delayed til 5/19.
That's the one I just got today too. Meanwhile, on their website, he is scheduled to ship May 5. Hopefully one way or another, we'll get him sometime in May lol.

I opened my Maximum Spider-Man after two weeks of hemming and hawing. I got what I expected.

I expected the figure itself to be pretty good. They nailed the McFarlane look with the sculpt. The articulation is there, it does just about all I want it to do. It is worthy of being anyone's "main" Spider-Man ML figure. In that regard I'm happy to have it. Like every 45 year old here, McFarlane Spider-Man was a big part of my early comic reading days, I think that alone held the most sway in making me want to crack this open.

I also expected that I would not feel it was worth the price once I opened it. New sculpt.....yep, it's new. It's really good. So is ROM. So is every Jada Street Fighter. Why did I pay more for it? I noticed no revolutionary advancements in the articulation. I got a pile of hands and webs, some of which should have come standard anyway and the remainder being nowhere near $25 worth.

So yeah, I bought a really good Marvel Legends Spider-Man. I got gouged for it. No surprises. I suspect the sting will wear off over time when my credit card balance is back to $0.00 and I will be more happy to have it.

I got that email too...at first I thought it was telling me he shipped...then came the news. I am pumped for him so was deflated, but there's enough other stuff I'm enjoying for now.

My first issue of ASM was 350 which was Larsen's last so I missed Todd in a sense....until he started his toy company and Spawn blew me and a lot of others away. Between that and Wizard I became pretty obsessed with his artwork, especially Spider-man. This was back in 1994 and while there have been many awesome Spiderman figures, including ones that represented his version of Spider-man, there has never been anything like this. From anyone. It's not hard for me to make $50 back. If that's what it takes to get a figure I dreamed of for 30+ years then it's a small price. Less than $2 a year.

I'm sure it could have been a bit less and we know there's corporate overlords everywhere, but I hardly care. I went without for years, decades on various things I love so now I will pay LooseCollector, Hasbro, Mafex or whomever to get what I want. Likewise I will pay for Deadpool, Cap, Human Torch etc. or especially a Max Cable if it happens. We're only getting 3 a year.

Damn. My Maximum Spider-Man finally just shipped from Pulse, and you guys are getting Hulk processing e-mails. Thats cool though. Can't wait to see some pics and videos of this Hulk.

I do expect him to ship next month from Pulse. So, hopefully those of us who ordered him there won't be too far behind you guys.

I hemmed and hawed at seeing Hulk back to MSRP on Amazon earlier and missed the boat. I'm not totally sold on the rubber upper torso or his head sculpts so might be for the best.

Got Max Spidey from Pulse about ten minutes ago and immediately opened him. The figure itself is great, but I don't know if it was a technical marvel leap forward from the last few iterations we've had of him. He does come stacked with accessories but I'm not sure he came with $50 worth of stuff. It's all fun though, and I think if he were $40 I'd not even bat an eye at it.

I got Maximum Spider-Man today. I really like this figure a lot. There are so many accessories. I definitely like the Web shield and the Spidey-Sense accessories the most.

I said this a few pages back, and now having the item in hand I feel it even more. But I REALLY like the way this looks in packaging. The packaging is sleek and colorful, and the figure and accessories look so cool in the window box. I really feel like having a bunch of these displayed together as we get more, would look so cool.

Red Spidey box, green Hulk box, blue Captain America box, yellow Wolverine box. Just all side by side displayed together on a shelf, or on top of a cabinet.

I'm not a MOC or MIB collector, but these present so well I am seriously considering getting 2 of each so I have one to open, and one to display MIB amongst all my Marvel collection and toys.

I agree that the box is slick - but the inner tray being the same shade as the accessories detracts from the overall look. Maybe a light blue would have worked?

Ah darn, I just trashed a ton of SWTBS Holocomm packaging - I could have slipped one in as proof of concept. :(
