Well. That didn't go as planned. After the opening attack he was done. I told him I would let him know when something was going to happen so he could hide his head. He did for most parts, but watched the majority of it. I didn’t say anything for the “we’re gonna need a bigger boat” scene so he would get the full experience of it. He liked parts, and REALLY liked Hooper.I'm taking my 13 year old to Jaws tonight. I'll report back as to how that went.
Some years ago I worked for a bit as a night desk at a college dorm (bills gotta be paid), and as part of it I set up a movie night to show the RAs at the dorm some stuff. They were all 16-18 or so years younger and so I got to introduce them to a lot (and I think turned some in to movie fans). Alien still rips. 10/10 movie and despite it's seeming ubiquity in pop culture, basically nobody younger than 25 has actually watched it on their own (and why would they, it's a dad movie). Still hits like a freight train with new watchers.I watched the original Alien with my 12 year old son last night. I expected him to think it was "old" or "slow/boring", but to my delight he absolutely loved it. It was fun seeing his surprise at
the chest burster scene and the reveal that the Xenomorph was on the shuttle.
I have a theory that realistic fear/pain on the face of a victim and not seeing what is happening (so imagining it) is worse for kids than seeing it directly shown. So while as an adult we think that the initial attack is not explicit, that makes it worse - whereas Quint being chomped on almost isn't as bad (but still bad).Well. That didn't go as planned. After the opening attack he was done.
I did, very much so, and am ready for a good finale. If you enjoyed the other movies in the Conjuring series you'll probably like this one too.
Not a movie so much but I did watch the Unknown Number documentary on Netflix. Jaaaaaaaaaaaaasis Christ.
I forgot to mention that there is a little bit of a post credits scene at the end. Nothing earth shattering and it's not a set up for another movie, but it still adds a little bit to the story you just saw if you want to hang around for it.I saw The Conjuring: Last Rites yesterday. It was pretty good. It had some legit scares in it.

Yeah, but I can't stop thinking about it.Yep. That was totally and completely ... bizarre.
