Why on earth does that smiling head on Doc Sampson look like it came from one of Mattel’s wrestling or Eternia figures?

Yeah, I'm really not liking that smiling head at all. It seems too doughy, with too much chin. But it might just be the hair that's throwing it off; bangs are never a good idea.

Those head sculpts look big on that body or at least the goofy smile one does to me. Does he have drop downs sure looks like it with that gap. Hmm, guess I will have to see once he is in my hands.

I kinda love the smiling head with the flowing locks. Samson has always had a degree of old-school cheeseball superhero to him - I've always gotten Captain Marvel (Shazam) vibes off of him, which I'm sure is mostly the costume similarities. But also, he's basically the opposite of Hulk - a well-adjusted Gamma-powered individual, not a tortured soul. I really dig the smiling face, and the hair is basically my default picture of him anyway.

Also - I immediately thought of Akatsuki on seeing this figure, knowing how much he likes a powerhouse build. Bet he'll be excited for this one!

The smiling head isn't horrible, I just think I would've liked to have seen a hint of teeth on one side, along with one of those John Byrne dimples.
I'd also have loved to see one of the heads sporting the pulled-back ponytail look.

I mean, it’s a huge step up from the last one, and I’m obviously buying it. But something about the belt thickness is giving him a bit of weird silhouette, like he has a slight tummy? I wonder if the belt can be pushed up any, as that might fix it.

Still, been waiting for this one as long as it’s been rumoured, so glad to finally get confirmation.

I'm excited for the figure, though unsure exactly where I want to put Doc, since I'm a little shy of a dedicated Hulk shelf (please, please give us more Hulk villains). This might be my tipping point for a "random heroes of the Marvel Universe" shelf with Deathlok and Shang-Chi.

I believe the upper torso is a slightly retooled Luke Cage to get the square collar correct. The arms definitely appear to be Luke's.
