Hulk Deluxe/Retro Wave

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but as a friendly head's up, I read on The ToyArk that Doc Samson is supposed to be a Target exclusive. If that's true, that's incredibly stupid on Hasbro's part. I really, REALLY, hope this isn't true though. I was never able to find/buy several of Target's Marvel Legends figures, such as the Avenges anniversary wave Black Widow and the Psylocke/Thanos Gamerverse two-pack.

I'm excited for the figure, though unsure exactly where I want to put Doc, since I'm a little shy of a dedicated Hulk shelf (please, please give us more Hulk villains). This might be my tipping point for a "random heroes of the Marvel Universe" shelf with Deathlok and Shang-Chi.

You could easily get away with having him with the Avengers. For my own toy shelves, I try to have everything transition between teams using associated characters. In theory, that'd be with Hulk and She-Hulk into Avengers on one side of Samson, and Moonstone into Thunderbolts on the other. Thunderbolts could be subbed out for F4 with Shulkie shifted around, as well. Ben and Len would be a great duo for an issue of Two-in-One, anyways.

So no ponytail head and a random weapon/item gripping hand with no weapon instead of giving him a pair of open splayed hands so he could be holding a boulder or other figure over his head…

I have a pretty easy time getting Target exclusives. Either online or in store, it’s not a problem and hasn’t been for quite a long time. Samson (no P, folks) shouldn’t be any different.

I hope he isn't a target exlusive, I need him readily available online or else I'm gonna end up begging for someone to mail me one.

Doc Samson only needs the one hand to hold someone over his head! I'd prefer if both hands were a pair, though. In fact, I could do with more hands in general, especially if this figure is going to be a pricier one.

I'm going to get him a nice armchair and a book, so I'm glad we have the one holding hand.

It’s a right grip hand and open left? Ugh, those are the same hands as Absorbing Man, same configuration. I was hoping it would be left grip, right open.

Just don’t go tooo heavily into John Byrne because the man was single handedly responsible for introducing cheesecake to 13 year olds.

No, you can't say Byrne was single-handedly responsible for that. Cheesecake has been around in comics since ... well, since comics have been around.

There has been a lot of Good Girl art by a lot of great artists. Frank Frazetta, Wally Wood, Jim Steranko, Dave Stevens, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho. Byrne didn't invent that. He just took the baton and ran with it for awhile.

Also - I immediately thought of Akatsuki on seeing this figure, knowing how much he likes a powerhouse build. Bet he'll be excited for this one!

Yes! Absolutely! The new Doc Samson looks fantastic. Love that powerful physique. I have wanted a new Doc Samson for ages.

I’m not placing the torso and arms. Is the torso new with those butterfly joints? The sculpt looks like modern Luke Cage except maybe the neckline is retooled? Arms might be Luke Cage, too?

Psylocke/Thanos are available right now.

The scowling head looks like the guy from Dethklok. And, now, hopefully we finally get the better version /costume of him, in his vested and ponytail look, form the vol.2 80s handbook. :D

Also, the smiling head looks like he's the one who secretly ripped an sbd, in the elevator, and put the blame of someone else. Like he's thinking of the Jim Carrey quote, from Liar Liar "It was Me".
:D
