Hulk Deluxe/Retro Wave

Meh, minor complaints to potentially get a somewhat obscure figure. I don’t recall 2099 being much of a success in general.

They had consistent sales for almost 4 years, before the writers left. Enough to keep justifying new books. At the end they had what? I think Spider-Man, Doom, Punisher, X-Men, Ghost Rider, Hulk, X-Nation, and Fantastic Four? 5 of those titles had 25 issues or more. I feel like it was more successful than we think. Remember it was only down-sized because they had gone bankrupt and were in cost cutting mode.

You left out Ravage 2099, and I think there was a quarterly 2099 Unlimited.
The depth or characters goes well beyond just the title characters though:
Ravage, Doom, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, Captain Ultra, Daredevil, Black Widow, Junkpile, Halloween Jack, Thing, Human Torch, Invisible Womsn, Mr Fantastic, Meanstreak, Wintre, Cerebra, Metalhead, Krystalin, Serpentina, Venom, Vilture, Brimstone Love, Moon Knight, Controller 13, Specialist. Cyclops, La Lunatica, Russian, Wulff, Wire, Wingspan, Willow, White Dog, Dr Octopus, Skullfire, Deadpool, Venture, Star-Lord, Uproar, Twilight, Trance, Suicide King, Psycho-K, Sub-Mariner, Tantrum, Risqué, Master Zhao, Psyclone, Strange, Monster, Mutant 2099, Quiver, Mr. Entertainment, Nostromo, One-eyed Jack, Flipside, Packrat, Euphoria, Quickdeath, Phoenix, Polymre, Quasar, Red Hulk, Rainmaker, Rico Estevez, Sandwoman, Silver Surfer, Arcadian, Electro, Ember, Fearmaster, Felicity, Instant Karma, Frostbite, Desert Ghost, Gunnar Heywood, Hawkeye, Captain America, Iron Fist, Kid Current, December, Justice, Mama Hurricane, Barrio Man, Billy Zedd, Bliss, Catscratch, Clarion, Daze, Bloodhawk, Clarion, Data Pirates, Dealer, Driver,
.. oh, and that Spider guy.

I'm not sure what this is about. Why did you list the characters?

Ravage wasn't being published at the time of line cancellation. Also we weren't talking about rosters, but sales and whether is did well or was a flop. So I'm not sure how this plays into that conversation.

I'm sorry, but can you explain for me how characters translated into success? I'm not following your logic.

My fault for being unclear. This was more directed at evidence for a 2099 poll, than commercial success as a sublime.

Anybody else thinks its weird the Professor Hulk was shown off with pre-orders solicited before Hulk 2099, but is coming out afterwards?

Didn't notice the dates, but that makes me sad. I want that Smart Hulk way more than 2099.

I does seem to explain why 2099 has pins in his legs and Professor doesn’t.

I don't think a months difference in release would explain pins. That decision would have had to be made months ago. That stuff would have been decided on back in the planning stages not the manufacturing stage.

They're probably just at different factories with different schedules. Professor Hulk is also probably a bigger order and more figures equals more time. This happened with the Mondo X-Men where Storm went up before Beast, but he's scheduled to deliver a month sooner.

Sure but 2099 coming first and Prof second absolutely provides information. They made much over the lack of pins when they revealed the Prof. I’m sure the decision itself was made quite some time ago: we are seeing the results of that decision play out.
