Harvinger Studios, Savage Crucible

I have no reason not to believe them.
And importantly; they have the numbers. The other side of this is a bunch of people speculating on what maybe it costs to make, how many they might need to make, how much money they might make by changing their minds. Etc. Harvinger knows exactly how much money they spend and make per unit sold, and exactly how many units they need to make (from a factory perspective). And neither party actually knows how many would sell.

Not to sound too much like Damien, but one side is full of assholes. Fuck 'em.

Wait... what's wrong with sounding like Damien? I've only heard good things about that guy. Look:

You were right

See? Damien is super smart. So I've heard.

I will say that until I had Elric in hand I was not impressed by the line at all, and I got in on the preorder specifically because I assumed Elric was niche and I might never get another figure of him.

I can't explain what it is, but these figures look way less cartoony and weirdly proportioned in hand than they do in photos. There's definitely some cartoonishness there, but I think it's much less WoW and more the same art that the WoW artists were also inspired by, especially given the offerings from the company so far. These are old school sword and sorcery geeks.
That makes me happy to hear. I will say I saw one of the older lizard men at a toyshow last month and it was like WOW level in person. That one looked nice in pictures too but they really didn't do it justice at all imo. I'm worried though for my wallet. 😭

This is it exactly. I've been floored by the gap between how they look in photos and how they look in person. The albino lizard was my second purchase because @Damien convinced me (and he was right, twice in one day ;) ) that it would be the perfect foil to Elric on the shelf and I was sincerely stunned by it as well. The pearl sheen to the scales and the really beautiful color scheme. Just lovely. And yeah, guard your wallet well. I had nothing from these guys in March and as of last night I'm now up to 6.

Fair warning; humanity doesn't have enough numbers to try to keep track of all the times I'm right. That way lies madness.

I have 7 Lemurians, and 10 of the piranhas on order. Probably should review the piranhas and make sure I have the right mix. I like to have between 8 to 12 for a "species" or group, like these or the Spero cats or 4H birds. So would like a couple more Lemurians.

Curious if there will be exclusive piranhas...

Thanks for showing up to help me look restrained. I was worried for a second.

It would be absolutely baffling if there weren't. I assume we'll get some sort of exclusive or whatever a few months after the current wave drops.

Circling back, but I agree the demand is there because Elric and the prior humans put them on the map. At least in my local and social media circles, no one really knew about or had interest in the line until Warrior and Elric started getting heat from the J Hernandezes of the scene.

Growing pains.

I think starting with the lizards was a good choice because it set them apart as doing something interesting and NOT just another company making barbarian guys. It showed that the company can do something else and do it really well.
I think starting with the lizards was a bad choice because it made them just another third party company doing random weird monster guys and stuff, and a lot of people just kind of ignored them, or maybe grabbed a lizard to fight Mezco Conan and then never thought about Harvinger again.

I'm curious about the background of Harvinger. They came out of the gate with what I think is a superior product to Mythic Legions - on-par sculpting and better articulation at a fairly reasonable price. It makes me wonder if they had some really good money backing the whole enteprise, y'know?
So someone can correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is this: Rob, the owner, had a long career in business and logistics, starting out with the military then going into private industry. So the bulk of the money for tooling and getting the line off the ground came from him personally, and the kickstarter was just to guarantee funding for the first few waves. Before the kickstarter he was the creator of a group of sculptors/designers called "My Action Figure Customs" that mostly made 3d printed Mythic Legions-compatible accessories and body parts. MAFC morphed into Harvinger but I believe they still use its branding occasionally to release 3d printed Savage Crucible pieces that they don't want to do injection mould tooling for.
