I think so, too. V3 feels like it might be a deluxe release: there is a LOT of idiosyncratic gear/weapons in that design. V4, you can fudge the gear, NF you DEFINITELY can since that was weapon-tree era, but v3 is defined by the vented broadsword, the three-sectional staff, the blow gun, the suppressed smg, the trench knives . . . I would even think they’d want two heads, the sleeker “card art” head and the “toy” head with the wraparound goggles and the night vision attachment. And a lot of necessary new webgear and such.

I’m not sure you’re out of the woods until you have it in your hands. Plenty of things can go wrong in shipping, especially when Walmart in involved. Hoping it goes smoothly for everyone but we’ve all been burned by Walmart too many times to expect otherwise. :(
 
@AceofKnaves I didn't even think about the head thing, but that's a good idea. If it was a Legends figure, that would DEFINITELY be a deluxe, but Classified could pull all that off as a regular. All that gear though... man I hope they get to him soon.
 
Heh, I found a cosplayer who did the suit. That's one way to do the butterfly swords.

I think what they will do for the butterfly knives is to have overlapping flat “loops” on the webgear that you can slide the knives into so they stay in place and also stay “revealed” as opposed to fully sheathed. Like Law’s loop for his truncheon, but flat.
 
It would be cool if Classified delved further into the pink Dark Energon crystals mined by Mole Rat like they're expanding on Crystal Ball's supernatural D.I.R.E. tech. Dark Energon, for those who don't know, is a reference to Transformers (in Transformers, Dark Energon exists and reanimates bots). It's a little disappointing that we haven't gotten a Toxo-Zombie, Zombie Viper, or anything really hinting at them other than Mole Rat. It doesn't have to be Eco-Warriors redone, but clearly zombies are a large part of Joe history and deserve more than one figure.

Those 50th Anniversary Zombie Patrol 2-packs flew off the Toys R Us shelves not that long ago. I can't imagine a similar modern version not selling just as well. They'd be fantastic foils to Night Force.

I’m sure zombies will be coming eventually. Like you said, they are kind of building up to that currently with the dark energon. They could even be ramping up to an energon fueled Mass device or something like that. I think the response to the energon universe has been very positive and well start seeing some cross over into classified. Frankly, I’d love to see some classified scale and detailed transformers, even if they need to be Haslabs. Ditch the transforming feature for detailing (it limits articulation too much too) and maybe even offer some smaller non-Transformed versions (Starscream is probably too big as a jet for example) like Hound.

I didn't think about how it might relate to the Mass Device. That's a fun idea. I was worried that they dropped the idea; one Walmart exclusive figure two years ago isn't exactly "building" up to anything. Almost like it was dropped in favor of Crystal Ball's DIRE tech. But, if they're waiting to get the Mass Device out first, that brings things into perspective. Seems like Walmart gets all my favorite sublines. What's next, Walmart Exclusive Ninja Force? o_O
 
I’m honestly not interested in deepening a connection to Transformers; I prefer Joe as its own thing. I love the Mole Rat, but in my headcanon it’s a zombie-like infection from chemical waste/questionable ore being mined, not specifically Dark Energon.
 
I honestly didn't even know that was energon when I got the Mole Rat and just assumed he was some kind of sci-fi zombie and treated him as such in my setup. If they bring energon-verse stuff into it and it's subtle (aka, I can pick it up like the Mole Rat and have no context other than hey neat!) I'd pick it up, but otherwise I have zero interest in transformer/Joes overlap. Now, Joes/MASK overlap? I'd nom nom on that all day.

I do hope they do a zombie-viper but moreso I hope they actually do an army builder with three zombies and interchangeable gear. Don't make me chase to army build zombies, Hasbro, I will literally buy two multi-packs on the spot to do this.
