G.I. Joe Classified Series

@Justice
Codename: Alternator
File Name: Muldowney, Donna
Primary Specialty: Mechanic
Secondary Specialty: Motor Vehicle Driver
Birthplace: Tehachapi, California

Alternator says she was born in motor oil. Grew up on the edge of the Mojave Desert to a family of drag racers. Built her first engine at nine years old. Won her first drag race with that same engine a year later. Saved up enough money between winning races and building custom engines to pay her way through an engineering degree, but got bored two years in because she kept finding more efficient ways to do things than her teachers. Joined the military because she wanted the challenge of putting engines back together from the scraps left over.

"Alternator almost killed Crankcase. He kept complaining about the getup and go on his AWE Striker. You know that old bartender trick, when someone complains about their drink being weak, you pour liquor down the straw so all they get is a shot of alcohol in their first sip? Now imagine doing that to a car engine. Anyway, Crankcase needed new pants and requests Alternator any time his vehicle needs a tuneup he can't handle now."

I just googled her and yeah, I'm gonna need that too.

This would get us knocking on the door for a Classified Series Chun-Li, so yes, bring it on.

Classified Series Chun-Li
Imagine the crossover!
This time, they can make the tactical bits INTENTIONAL and also REMOVABLE on the Street Fighters, like the new MOTU/Thundercats stuff where the ‘Cats can be MOTU’ed out OR just plain ‘Cats.

Oh man, now I REALLY want this.

Ugh, the best I came up with was Toolbox. Also found this trivia:

On the preliminary dossier for this character, her codename was "Hurricane Helga" and her real name was Ariana, rather than Courtney

There’s an illustrator out there doing art based on GIJoe card and package art, but translating Transformers designs to military armor, retaining things like helmets and color schemes, rifles, gauntlets. Turning wings into jet packs. They look amazing, and I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t buy them if they made them. At least Optimus Prime and Megatron, that’s always my rule of thumb.

Welp, here we go. *sigh*

And now Ghost Viper.

Honestly, I do think 3 completely new and unique creations just for Classified is not a bad amount considering just how many beloved characters/costumes haven't even been hinted at yet. I don't mind new stuff at all (I think it's the only way a brand really survives), but it's a tightrope for sure. I'd argue that most people collecting Classified are orders of magnitude more interested in remakes of their favorites than brand new figures.
Its true, but as long as its sparing, i think most of us don't mind. The ones we've gotten so far have been pretty sweet. I really like the Ghost and Grim Vipers, and Wolf Spider fits in with Night Force seamlessly.

Ok so I, like many, have two Cover Girls now. I've decided since I'm a cartoon purist that the first release is going to be Cover Girl. Now I need for one of you creative types to come up with a good codename and backstory for the new one. I'm displaying her with the ponytail and wrench so I'm thinking she's mostly a mechanic but isn't afraid to join the battle if needed.

Best backstory/name wins! There is no prize, just knowing that your character has been immortalized in my collection should be more than enough.

Code Name: Redline/Torque/Sparkplug
File Name: Chambers, Mallory J.
Primary Specialty: 91B - Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic
Secondary Specialty: 88M - Motor Transport Operator
Grade: E-5 Sergeant
Birthplace: Carbondale, IL

Born and raised in Carbondale, IL, Redline grew up surrounded by freight trains, college kids, and the roar of the local dirt track. Her father ran a small auto shop off Route 13, where she was rebuilding pick up trucks and dirt bikes before she could legally drive. A year of university in Chicago didn't suit her, but her mechanical instincts and fearless attitude made her a natural fit for the Army's Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic program, where she earned a reputation for fixing anything with wheels... often faster than the training and manual said was possible. Not content to sit in a garage, she cross-trained as a Motor Transport Operator, mastering tactical driving under fire and convoy logistics in hostile terrain.

Redline's dual expertise made her invaluable during a high-risk extraction mission in the Middle East, where she repaired a MRAP under fire, then drove it through the minefield to rescue a pinned down squad. Her battlefield composure, grit, and technical skill earned her a fast track to the GI Joe team, where she serves as the lead motor pool specialist and combat driver. It doesn't matter if Redline is tearing down engines or tearing apart Cobra convoys, she shows that horsepower and heroism go hand in hand.

"Redline's the reason the motor pool runs like clockwork. And the reason the enemy runs like hell. If she's driving, I'm riding."

M4 Carbine with Underslung Shotgun, M1911 Pistol, Torch, Wrench, Tactical pack with spare parts, mini-jack, and a portable drone for diagnostics ("Rat-Ass").

---

Loosely inspire by someone I knew in basic who wanted to be an MTO in Afghanistan/Iraq at the peak, and a good ol' country girl I knew.

Drill sergeant: "Let me get this straight, you signed a contract to drive a shiny, heavy tanker filled with gasoline - flammable, explosive gasoline - right through that open desert or rocky canyons where they got IEDs and RPGs."
Kid: "Yes, Drill Sergeant."
DS, walking away shaking his head: "Every cycle I find the next dumbest son of a bitch."

With the way Capcom is so open to licensing the SF brand, I’d say it’s definitely on the table. I mean we’re getting those SF/WWE crossover figures that don’t make any sense.

We’ve gotten a handful of figures already that were used for the original line. Big Boa was Balrog, Slice was Ryu, Storm Shadow v2 was Ken. Technically Road Pig was Guile and Blanka, but I don’t see him working for them this time. Maybe Zangief. Who ironically used Gnawgahyde parts which I also don’t think would work for Gief this time around.

I imagine it would be part of the license that they couldn’t do game looks, which I’d be alright with. I don’t need the line to be a total slave to the originals (that Classified Storm Shadow body that Ken would use kind of sucks), but I’d be happy if they Classified-up characters whose original figures actually looked like the game models, like Dhalsim, Sagat, and Honda.

They could also do a repaint of the current Haslab (Snow C.A.T.) into the wonderfully bright purple Devastator.
