G.I. Joe Classified Series

Yes, Ripcord is what I meant. I agree, the HasLab doesn't really count, as neither version of Ripcord or Crazy Legs were the single carded versions from their respective years (that I'd prefer). I'm not even sure I need either that badly. I don't have any flying vehicles. I don't plan to hang them from my ceiling. The anniversary pilot figure could easily stand in for Ripcord too. Talk about nostalgia, this is the power of CROSS SELL. I wouldn't know about most of these figures if not for their pictures on the Joe and MotU card backs, or in the catalog posters from Transformers. It was easy to want to "collect them all" when you could see right there what you were still missing.
Exactly, yes!

And the other thing that makes it easier to collect them all, those days, is this damned forum and how excited some of you guys get about figures I wouldn't have otherwise thought about much.

But the other thing I'll point out is how much I really love figures of characters I didn't think much of in the 80s. I never had scrap Iron or Rock N Roll, but really love their classified versions. Favorites from my childhood hold up, but so do characters I wouldn't have looked twice at.

I'm not that interested in the MASS Device aspect of these figures. I didn't order the divers. I might have if they were female, just to get some variety. I don't think I'd buy the MASS Device even if they offered it.

Speaking of females in wetsuits, I'd totally buy Mara the aquatic lady Shipwreck fell in love with. There were a lot of episodes that centered on this guy, like when all his friends and relatives started melting. Dude's been through a lot!

I own many figures, and at times entire toylines, SOLELY because of this place (and Fwoosh, not too terribly long ago). This place brought me back to Star Wars like 3 or 4 different times. Half of the Joes I own are just from looking at other people's thoughts and photos and saying 'actually... yeah, I do like that.' Fuck you guys. Fuck you guys so hard.

Yeah, that's exactly it. It's not even about coveting as much as "wow, their passion for that guy I never was into is awesome... I must have it!" even when that passion is utterly personal for that collector. I think Dr. Mindbender and Doc are the two biggest ones for me with that. You guys helped cure me of my medical bias.

I've texted @Ru1977 many times while watching @RoboDon'tKnow telling him I guess I'm getting whatever figure Robo is reviewing because he makes it look so awesome.

I am gonna guess Docsilence either pre-ordered no diver sets or several sets.
One set, but I forgot they were a Target "Exclusive" since they're listed on Pulse and got very confused when I couldn't find my order. I just missed the heavy water piece, but I'd also forgotten they matched up with the diver uniforms in the cartoon and just thought they were "cool divers" like the Navy seaman figure. I just liked that they built out whatever I plan do to for an underwater display with flight stands and didn't look deeply at the accessories. (DEEPLY)

I'm pretty happy with most of the lines I collect, but this is the one line where they keep revealing characters and I'm like OH YES HIM! Even if I didn't really like him as a kid. They could reveal Psyche Out tomorrow, a character who fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, and I'd be like OH LOOK AT HIM. This line is very weird that way.

Right. And then there's stuff like the damned Ghost Viper or Grim Viper, something I had no idea would exist but now want very much so. Mainframe was the 'never had, never wanted, wasn't on my list, but.... ooooooo, that hat sold me' figure of that bunch, and I already have the fire team range viper so I really thought I was good on that type of viper.... but whatever. My joe shelves aren't even crowded yet, but I know the list I'm hoping they get to, and stuff like the Ghost Viper worries me because how many more neat figures I haven't thought of are they gonna entice me with?

Yeah, and the way this line just does something NEAT with each character. They're not phoning it in. I DID have Mainframe and he was a stable of my collection but if he wasn't, I'd look at his "combat IT" kit loadout and be very interested anyway, that kind of thing. I actively disliked Road Pig as a kid but the post-apocalyptic gear and a DOG? Gimme.

Right! And dumb stuff for me like... Grunt's haircut, to me, looks like a Ranger haircut so I had to get him to display unhelmeted... even though I really like his helmet.

I also actively disliked Road Pig, but for the reasons you named I came very close to getting him when on sale at Amazon. I just... I know there's others on my wishlist I want more and am saving the space for them. I also know if I get any Dreadnoks beyond Zartan himself (whom I feel can stand on his own well, especially since the comics got deep in his time before and even after that group), then I'll end up going to town on them. And I don't find the original three all that visually interesting, but would have to have them if I have Road Pig, and/or Monkeywrench, etc.

This talk of NOT being interested in the Dreadnoks is blowing my mind!
I get it. If money and room weren't considerations, I would absolutely go for it with all of them. Even Zanzibar (and I know a lot of you guys love him, so that's probably another mind blowing I'm performing). I'm more about Vipers and troopers though, and the Dreadnoks ended up being not my favorite parts of the comics later on, probably after Zartan went back to being on his own. I love the concept of them though.
