G.I. Joe Classified Series

I watched the reviews of both CC and SE. They're pretty much exactly as expected. This is core retail Classified so everything is fucking muted and dim, which sucks, but it's not terrible. I do wish companies would figure out a better injection color for silver because it never looks good anymore. It doesn't look BAD, but it doesn't have that nice, crisp, SILVER look.

I hate SE's gun holster, but I always planned to take it off anyway. And, again with them trying to make the figures look more serious and less colorful and fun, I miss SE's entire lower leg being blue. But overall, I can't say this is better or worse than what I would generally expect from these designs in mainline Classified. I like them enough to buy them. In fact, I'm fairly excited to get them, whenever they come to Canada.

Yeah, the muted colors on V.4 Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander sucks just a little bit. Especially on Cobra Commander. But not a deal breaker for me. And hopefully they get Retro Card versions where they are even more precise to the vintage 3.75" figures both in attire design and especially colors. I eagerly await this Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander as well as Sci Fi for the Retro Card line.

I finally got all caught up to the pre orders. I had skipped a few things that had come in stock over the last month or two, but I finally got it all. I had received Heavy Duty, Footloose, and Blow Torch a week or so ago, and now I have a couple FRAG Vipers, Darklon, and the GI Joe Storm Shadow. So, I have everyone from the vintage toy line that has been released to this point.

Well, except Clutch. I didn't get the VAMP. So, I hope they let him out on the Retro Cards too. Even though I didn't get the VAMP, I may have to get the AWE Striker. That is one of, if not my favorite GI Joe Vehicle from the vintage toy line.

Opened v4 Snake-Eyes and I love him so much! So much fun detail, and he feels like he leapt right out of the 90s comics in terms of colors/deco, which is what I personally was hoping for. Working on some paint washes and such, and I think I’m going to give one of my copies the biceps pouches from a couple Frag-Vipers and then Law’s leg-gear including the *good* Uzi holster because yeah the flap-holster that comes with this guy doesn’t really hold the SMG very well. Then I think I’ll do a foot-swap with NF Quick-Kick so QK can have more karate-esque feet and SE can be commando’d up.
All-in-all, a really dig him, even with no mods.

Got the bear set tonight. As always, my expectations are exceeded by this line. I thought the Snake Eyes would be a little boring, but he's got just enough color that he really pops--I like him a LOT more than I expected. His hands are a little gummier than I'd like but that's my only complaint, that and I know I SHOULD display him with the glowing pink hands, but I like him enough I kinda want him to hang out on the shelf as he looks without the radiation poisoning.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but the bear is actually SMALLER than I expected, but after several "holy hell, where can I PUT this effing thing" purchases lately, I actually love the size. He's perfect. The joints are so smooth, the paint apps are perfect. Just a damned fine set.

Now I wonder who is going to come with the Heavy Water accessory from the MASS Device. A new Torpedo? Or is it coming with the Divers two pack?

I'm also iffy on Snake Eyes after seeing Shark's YouTube review, but I'll leave it for in hand to decide.

I really feel like I'm sated on Classified once Cover Girl hits. Slice and Dice will be cool, but I have most of who I want, and I have no nostalgia for anything being announced all year.

Yeah, I went into this line with a list of favorites I wanted in this scale, but along the way I got into being able to own characters I never had as a kid, and along the way I found new favorites not on either list. I came into the line wanting something kinda casual then fell totally in love.

‘85 was my first year collecting GIJoe so that was the group I’m most connected to, and the group I wanted most from Classified. They are only Airtight away from completing that line up. I can’t believe how quickly they filled out some of these groups. They are making a big dent in ‘86 w it n Wetsuit, Sci Fi, and Mainframe. I think ‘84 is just missing Airborne? I think the few I still really want at this point are ‘87 Fast Draw, Crazy Legs, Big Lob, and Spearhead and Max from ‘88.

I'm the opposite with this line. I somehow have nostalgia for things that never existed.
I think I understand what you mean. I often feel a nostalgic pull towards figures I wish existed as a kid, that I wanted but never had, or that remind me of different stuff I had as a kid. The nostalgia for what we wish was, rather than what was, maybe?

I know you mean Ripcord, and technically yes since we can't really count the haslab. They also have quite a few of the drivers done from that year while 85 is just starting on those.

Yes, Ripcord is what I meant. I agree, the HasLab doesn't really count, as neither version of Ripcord or Crazy Legs were the single carded versions from their respective years (that I'd prefer). I'm not even sure I need either that badly. I don't have any flying vehicles. I don't plan to hang them from my ceiling. The anniversary pilot figure could easily stand in for Ripcord too. Talk about nostalgia, this is the power of CROSS SELL. I wouldn't know about most of these figures if not for their pictures on the Joe and MotU card backs, or in the catalog posters from Transformers. It was easy to want to "collect them all" when you could see right there what you were still missing.
