Action Force and Valaverse

I produced a feature film about 15 years ago and knowing what it costs and how big a lift it was to produce and direct a romantic comedy with a core cast of four and no special effects, I can imagine the money pit a post-apocalyptic military action movie would be.

(True story: the worst day of my acting career was on a set with poor stunt coordination during a car chase scene. Three other actors said if we went for another take they were going to quit on the spot, and the police officer acting as a consultant left the set and said he didn't want to be there when whatever bad happened actually happened. Ah, indie film scenes in the early aughts, how I miss you... but they did teach me how to do a "movie cool" reload trick on a pistol so that was fun.)

I didn't know Vala was producing a movie, but without knowing anything more than the setting (post-societal collapse) and genre (military action), I can already tell that's a much more ambitious, i.e. expensive, idea than Vala has the money to make. I mean, he could be smart and do a "downed behind enemy lines" story that justifies a small cast wandering around the woods for most of the movie, or something like Hunt for Red October that takes place almost entirely in a ship or submarine, but stories like those wouldn't really help promote his toy line because they're purposefully small and light on the gun fights. I'm guessing it's going to be a lot of tacticool soldiers meeting in non-descript offices to tell us about big things things that happened off-screen, followed by CGI gun fights in industrial parking lots.
Probably the best route would be a Steel Helmet/Rio Bravo kind of fort defense story, I think. That's a classic way to a good, tense, low-budget picture (Assault on Precinct 13, Night of the Living Dead).

But your scenario sounds more realistic, assuming Valaverse: The Movie happens at all. We'll be lucky if it hits, like, Asylum levels of quality. I'm imagining something very Neil Breen.

I don't think Bobby is putting his own money into the movie.

I'm intrigued by the WWII line. I still own only three male figures. The BBTS Steel Brigade because I liked the colors, a male Steel Brigade because Dorkside sent it to me instead of the female version I preordered, and the figure that resembles the guy from a famous photo.

Now now, I'm sure Bobby's got the juice to set at least one scene in a nondescript rock quarry. The old "Dr. Who Special".

Got the Praetorian Fury, and it is awesome. Comes with enough gear to fully outfit two figures. It comes with the dual gattling guns and with the dual flamethrowers that I gave to another Praetorian. Excellent sculpt, articulation, and accessories.

Vala is giving away sets of hands for free (2 per customer) and he has a sale coming up for the weekend, 15% off orders under $100, 20% off $100-$299, 30% off over $300.

I haven't heard him comment about the free hands, but I'm guessing he's trying to prove hands aren't a major factor in cost (Maximum Series and no Force hands). In the past, he has talked about hands being an easy throw in because there's space in the tooling to accommodate.

There was also a few case of hand peg issues with series 5, so I’m sure it’s also part of that as well

He does mention it in his email, "If you’ve ever had any issues with hands or just need a few more,..." I wasn't sure what he was referring to.

I've been banging this drum since before Valaverse existed, also. Extra hands cost toy companies practically nothing. Like.. fractions of pennies per figure. We have ever right to say 'we should be getting more hand options' with our figures. And we have every right to tell them to get fucked when they think extra hands is worth raising the price on the figures by 15-50%.

Those look great and the prior Praetorians are some of my favorites from this line.

It looks like I missed the convention- and website-exclusive Praetorian Wraith (white color scheme). Any idea whether that one will restock at the webstore? I believe certain previpus exclusives have before.
