    Super 7 TMNT figures

I spent some spare time this week opening up some old pickups and getting out what little S7 I have. Wound up adding a matte finish to the original four brothers, and some select parts of Sewer Surfing Mikey (I wanted his wetsuit to remain a little satiny). Also kiki'd all the loose hips. Big...

    Tracking toy tariffs

I have a couple preorders that came due during this time, on their way into the country now from China. I'll report back to say what I was charged, and if I was charged. I still don't even know how I'll be charged, but if it's a bill, I think I'll just sit on it until this all goes away. Unless...

    NECA - General Thread

They have the chops to do almost anything I think. They're one of the few companies that showed they can master cartoon stuff, creature stuff, and regular looking human stuff. So it's fun speculating. I'd love to see them do: Smurfs - maybe released as 4 packs of smaller, 3 inch figs that...

    Mezco One:12

Mezco just dropped a "Collector's Capsule" release of their Shadow action figure, which you can order here. At a whopping $175, it's the same figure they released last year with some accessory swap outs, a giant smoke effect, more black added to the costume, a completely blacked out portrait...

    NECA '87 Toon TMNT

There's good deals on older toon stuff on Amazon every now and then. I think it's 3rd party shops that thought they could scalp during Haulathons etc, then are left with peg warmers once the buzz died down.

Nah, accidentally playing telephone I guess. My bad.

    NECA - General Thread

I would have gotten into the Gargoyles line, but the wings stopped me. I would have just gotten the main clan anyhow, but I didn't like having to pick up other figures just for a part. I would have rather paid extra for articulated wings. But they just looked too unwieldily. Sad to see...

    Tracking toy tariffs

Just got a package in from Nin Nin, a SHF Ahsoka shipped via Japan Post, delivered here via USPS. No tariff. Country of origin listed as Japan, and they valued the package at 3,745 yen (figure was actually $65 or 8,930 yen) FYI for Nin Nin shoppers, so far so good.

    NECA Mirage Comics line

I LOVE stuff like that. Same with the Roadkill Rodney's emerging from the ground effect, and their zoom dust effects. They really bring a figure to life. Wish we saw more creativity like that across the figure landscape.

    Tracking toy tariffs

I'm 99% sure Venus will eventually get a figure from NECA, unless the rights are in some sort of strange web. Not because her or the Next Mutation are beloved, but because at a certain point every single iteration of the brand will have representation but that one, and for the sake of...

    NECA Mirage Comics line

NECA also did right by him, I think. It seemed like all the products were launched in a way to tie in to Stan making a profit off of directly retailing them as well as whatever he got for the rights to make the figures themselves. He had exclusives for his store, right? Maybe I'm misremembering...

    Super 7 TMNT figures

Thanks for the review, Misfit. These are an interesting test for Super7, seeing how they are direct representations of the cartoon, and not homages to classic figures. So many of their lines, but not all, walk a line between a cartoon adaptation and a toyline adaptation, or at least attempt to...

    Super 7 TMNT figures

Alright, definitely passing on Samurai Leo. I never had Rock Leo as a kid, but he'd fit in better with Space Raph, Sewer Mikey, and Basketball Don — all of which are on the absurd/funnier side of things. And I like the head wih the closed eyes. Gonna keep my eyes pealed for some sales.

    Tracking toy tariffs

Yeah, I mean I guess my entire point is that they likely were already discussing whether or not moving forward with Ultimates was in the best interest of the company, and the tariff uncertainty made the decision for them. Not that the tariffs were 100% to blame. But on the other hand, in another...

    Super 7 TMNT figures

I thought sports were existentially boring when I was a kid, lol. I enjoy them now, though. How can you have patience for watching a football game when there's movies about ninjas on TV?? I remember a kid in my class got Panda Khan and Fugitoid before I even knew those figures existed. I don't...

    NECA '87 Toon TMNT

I can't imagine they'd rerelease the van, now of all times. Tariffs plus all the ill-will with Donnie's Lab... but who knows. Crazier things have happened I guess. I tried selling mine on eBay and it sat like a rock for a while, eventually I took it down. It was only a little, like maybe 5...

    Super 7 TMNT figures

All the hubbub over S7 made me remember I have a couple Ultimates I bought during one the sales I never opened. Just opened up Sewer Surfin Mikey. Years late to the party but I love this guy more than I thought I would. Granted, he was sub $20. So that definitely colors my vision. I actually...

Might be sewer surfing versions of the boys? Kinda like how they've been doing toy inspired designs.

    Tracking toy tariffs

How old are you, Schizm, if you don't mind me asking? I was born in 1984, same with TMNT, but I didn't know about them until 87-88, when the cartoon came out. So I was pretty fresh in the world when turtlmania hit and I fell hard. I had some toys of course before then but TMNT were the first...

    Tracking toy tariffs

By Ultimates being on shaky ground... I meant that they've pretty much done all the best selling characters in all of their best selling IPs, along with a lot of deep cuts and supporting cast. They could certainly make more Playmates TMNT or Thundercats minor characters, but those probably...

    Tracking toy tariffs

The way I see it is Ultimates were on shaky grounds to begin with and the tariffs killed them. S7 are in FAO Shwarz now with a Peanuts section filled with far less complicated merchandise being sold to collectors and kids. Can probably make all that with a much smaller team. Literally a lot less...

Muppets (including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock)

NECA's toon TMNT was definitely their biggest seller for a while there, but the line is naturally running out of characters to make. It still has a lot that can be done with it, but NECA doesn't seem to have many other IPs with long legs. It seems like the Sesame Street line is selling pretty...

    Tracking toy tariffs

I believe that the tariffs are what led to the layoffs at S7. Aside from having to foot the bill on the 2003 TMNT wave, which might have erased all profits from what may have been a major seller for them, they also face complete uncertainty for the future. This isn't unique for them, but how do...
