G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

My work boots have a side-zipper and are still factory-laced. Hahaha.
THIS is how to do it. I was just looking at a pair of winter boots I've been wearing a lot lately and the laces look like someone caught them in an egg beater because I just don't tie them right. I tie them to STAY TIED, but it ain't pretty.
But it's a selfish thing, too. I just like right-handedness aesthetically. It makes sense to me because we're talking about activities that -I- do right-handed, despite BEING left-handed. Because of being forced to do both my entire life, I think I've mentioned this before, I actually have some weird lefty-righty issues where I do X with my left, but Y with my right.
Yeah, I'm selfish in the inverse. Like I would never ASK Classified to make lefty figures, or EXPECT it. I fully expect Nick Fury to have a holster on his right, for He-Man to have his shield set up for his left hand, for Nightcrawler to only come with a grippy right hand for his sword, for every Jedi to have their lightsaber hand be the right one. But if a company intentionally or accidentally makes lefty figures, or better yet, gives us the parts to do either (One of the few things Mythic Legions didn't screw up in the early days was making sure every figure was customizable for handedness, for example)? Selfishly I love it. Though honestly ideally give me ambidextrous figures. Every Spidey and all but one Wolverine I own isn't handed. That works best for me.

That works best for me.
I think every action figure should be -mechanically- ambidextrous. After that, it really just depends on the design itself if it can be made fully ambidextrous or if it needs a decided handedness, or if it can be designed to be customized.

Every figure that has a holstered weapon has an implied handedness unless you can customize where/how the weapon is holstered. That's a lot more possible now than it was 10 years ago even, but most companies still won't bother.

That sounds like way more effort than I was ever going to put into my daughter's newest fad interest (which she has already quit after about a year of doing it, mind).
Awwww man!
That's what I did originally because it was cool, but now I can just get lefties that suit me.
Heh, yeah... the cutaway is always gonna be a pain when you go high on the fretboard, but still 'neat' to me.

I wonder if they’ll ever do equipment packs. I just stuck a righty holster on Falcon and for most of these guys, those thigh holsters require no pop and swap to get them on, just slide it over the boot heel. The vertical vs horizontal wrist hinge thing remains a problem but easy-to-buy packs with holsters and sheaths would let folks customize their figures’ handedness so easily.

Awwww man!
Tell me about it. The cost of shipping my old guitar up from my mom's place in Florida, and the cost of then buying her a brand new guitar for her birthday when she realized she liked it, and then a year of guitar lessons.... just for her to go full ADHD and basically pull the 'it's stressing me out and I'm not immediately good at it and also it's a demand on my time and I hate being forced to do anything.' So now she has a 1300 dollar guitar collecting dust in her bedroom because she is also a fucking hoarder and won't get rid of anything.

I imagine we will get equipment packs eventually. They even talked about it once or twice and trying to find the right way to make it happen. But I'd be surprised if that includes extra holsters or other wearables. Probably just weapons and little dio bits like the SnowCAT comes with.

I guess I'll just be happy there are guys who dismantle every figure and then put each individual part up on ebay for three bucks so I can swap out holsters and stuff. (Though I wouldn't mind packs for stuff that is so easy to lose like silencers and magazines.)

I imagine silencers and mags will be included if/when they get around to accessory packs. So at least you'll have extras. I'm just hoping they don't do them in stupid colors. BUT, that is kind of a Joe tradition, so we'll see.

I would be amused as hell if they did stupid colors... as long as they ALSO release it in black and appropriately subtle gray too. Those ugly ass color packs made me so happy as a kid cos I lost stuff all the time. (Probably why I carefully bag up any pieces not currently on display as an adult.)

(I've actually dropped Shockwave's uzis/magazines so many goddamned times I preemptively bought a spare on eBay because if I own a spare, I won't lose the original, but if I don't have a spare, I WILL lose the original.)

I call them chop shops. I have spent way too much money on extra heads, body parts, guns, gun holsters, and other weapons like swords, from those shops. I have heads for GI Joe and Marvel figures I don't own. They're a customizers friend. But some of them can get expensive. And there was 1 guy, I'm not gonna name names, but he seemed all cool and stuff when we had a small issue, and then he gave me good feedback after it was all resolved and then blocked me from buying shit from him again. I was gonna too, he had more stuff I wanted. But alas, I guess I pissed him off or something. I unno.

Anyway, got around to opening Budo. Wow his swords aren't great. Like the tanto is fine, but its not shaped like the other swords so it sticks out a bit. Is the middle one supposed to be a katana? Cause its small. Like really small. Looks like a wakizashi to me. Way too small. So I gave him an extra Helix sword I had, and painted the hilt a bit. Definitely looks better that way. Also chopped both scabbards off his belts and moved them to the other side. Haven't figured out how to give him a pistol with the old school armor, but I'm not sure you can with that skirt. Need to do a little putty and painting on that armor too where the old scabbards came off. I do believe I will get another one if I can find him cheap enough. And I'll probably leave those armor sets alone. So I will have a lefty and a righty for both armor sets. I think this one I am keeping in the older style armor though, it looks alot better then the newer armor imo.

I always wonder if it's a profitable side gig or if they're just really into customizing because a few of those chop shops have pieces of EVERYTHING up for sale. Love that they do it for customizing and for lost parts but it seems like so much work.

Yeah, it's an actual business model. There's guys that do it with Mezco as well. You can catch them right after a Mezco figure drops and every single thing in that package is pieced out individually. To me it's barely a step above scalping.

It doesn't feel... good, to me, as a business model, yeah, especially for stuff that folks are struggling to find, though if it's for figures that are plentiful and saves me the hassle of buying an entire extra X figure just to get Y part I can live with it. I need a new sword for a Mythic Legions figure and absolutely don't want to pay or rehome an entire Ogre-sized figure from them.

Not to change the subject too much, but the last two days I was going through Legends and Black Series to clear more shelf space and listed dozens of figures on ebay, selling six already and having a nice bit of money in the account now... first thing I did was see what Wild Weasel and the HISS Gunner are going for these days, then... yeah, gonna wait to see if they do retro releases.
