G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

It doesn't feel... good, to me, as a business model, yeah, especially for stuff that folks are struggling to find, though if it's for figures that are plentiful and saves me the hassle of buying an entire extra X figure just to get Y part I can live with it. I need a new sword for a Mythic Legions figure and absolutely don't want to pay or rehome an entire Ogre-sized figure from them.
It's largely a principle thing for me. People buying figures that they don't want or need so they can make a profit off other people. At its root, it's the same mentality as any other scalper. It's antithetical to community. It's just 'well, if Capitalism is fucking us, let me fuck someone else. Gotta get mine.'

The 1 store has in its about info that they buy figures from people. Sometimes you find some older stuff. So some of it is just buying older toys and dismantling them too. I've gotten some really old weapons from the TB LotR figures very cheap. I think I nabbed a full set of Legolas weapons from Fellowship for like $8 or something. I wanted them for my Elven ladies I bought last year. I'd also rather buy the heads for like $5-$10 then getting an entire figure I don't really want for $30. I have a giant assortment of GI Joe heads filling out my Mandalorian ranks, as well as a couple Marvel ones. And I have more heads waiting for bodies. I think if I can get a couple cheap Acolyte figures I may use some for random Jedi as well. Those and the gun holsters are usually what I buy most of. But I have a rule that I won't spend more then $10 on any 1 item. Some of the rarer heads can get expensive, more then the figure at retail expensive. I won't even consider getting that shit.

When I got that preemptive replacement piece for Shockwave I had the "I refuse to pay five dollars shipping for a $3.50 item" thing happen, so I ended up getting a gun that would fit in Shockwave's hand better (his uzis are too big for his grip), a sidearm for Sci-Fi, and that stuff for Falcon. It's funny how few characters in this line come with enough gear. Usually they're stacked. But if they're missing a sidearm or knife it feels very weird.
