Mini Comic Wave 2

I’m having the same issue. Walking out with one $30 figure doesn’t seem to bother me much, but the thought of walking out with two for $60 makes me very uncomfortable. In some respects, it’s been a blessing in disguise as I need to start downsizing my collection anyway, but I still miss the days when I would walk out of Target or Wal-Mart with two or three bags of figures.
I can vividly remember finding most of the Giant Man BAF wave at Walmart one random night where I stopped during work in 2006 and being pissed they were $9.99 instead of the $7.99 MLs had been up to that point.

I've seen Feral at Walmart twice in the past week or so and Widow once and as good as they look, I just can't pull the trigger at $28. Had a similar reaction with the Classified Footloose at Walmart or week or so prior to that. It's funny how that $3 extra has become such a barrier for me — although I've never been happy with paying $25 a figure.

That's why I'm only sticking to X characters.

If I did ALL Marvel figures, I'd be in serious trouble. But they take enough breaks in between for X-Men that I can justify it.

Got casual Daredevil today and man, I love a simple but effective figure. He's not as bulky as I was expecting him to be in the sweats, SUPER posable, nothing fancy but just perfect for what he is. I like the one baton doubling as a cane. I'd still love to see a Netflix version of this outfit but this is really well done.

That $3 extra doesn't seem like much, but that's the insidiousness of the price creep. Plus, I think the sales tax gets overlooked a lot. Yes, at $25 we still, of course, paid sales tax, but we were still a bit under $30 a figure at that point. Now, including sales tax, we're paying $30 a pop out of pocket. I would love to own that sweat suit DD from a great DD story, but it's such a one-off look that it has to get cut. This is the "priced out" scenario that I've always heard about. It's here.

How I think of the price increase for Hasbro products is if I pay $79 to well over $100 for one figure even being an import then why am I upset over a $3-$4 price increase specifically on Marvel Legends. I personally will drop any and all other lines before I drop Marvel Legends. I like other toy lines but I love Marvel Legends to the point I had far hopes that Hasbro could have got the DC license. The DC license deserves a company who will show it the respect and love it deserves. Mattel being Mattel will screw it up sooner than later.

When Legends were harder to find (at least in Canada) I was all too happy to pay Con prices because it saved me the hunt and it meant I could just have it. The Cons used to be my only shot.

My valuation is Do I Like It, and Is It Cool.

Honestly, this is where I'm at with Legends. Am I annoyed to be paying almost 30 bucks a figure? Yeah. Am I paying $50 for Savage Crucible, $48 for Mythic Legions, $110 for FuRay, $100 for a Storm Collectible, $40 for NECA or Monster Force? McFarlane's charging $35-60 for figures that are a lot less fun than Legends. And my biggest test of a figure - if the new Feral figure falls off my desk onto the floor, she probably isn't going to irreparably break. I don't like the price hikes at all but they're still cheaper and more stress free as a collector (with cats who knock figures off shelves) than anything else I collect.

That being said the VOLUME of figures is giving me pause, but I can be selective, that's just being responsible.
