Star Wars Black Series

I found Farmboy Luke at TRU today. But no way I'm paying 40-something dollars for him when that same wave at EB is like 33 dollars with the Edge card.

I'm actually way up on TBS purchases this year, especially if all the "rumors" come true:

Unnannounced:
ANH Han
ANH Ben (maybe)
ANH Chewbacca (maybe)
Sidious / Mace
Ep III Anakin
Ep III Obi-Wan
Jedi Temple Guard
If they deign to do anything for Padme.

Then the announced:
Ahsoka Anakin
Captain Rex
Shaak-Ti
Luminara
Asajj Re-Release
Ezra
SM-33
Armored Moff Gideon
Shadows Leia & Luke (literally just for the better Leia head - hopefully Luke can get most of my money back)

Then the already purchased:
ANH Leia x3
ANH Luke x3
Vernestra x2 (for a potential ST Leia)
Bazil (though I really hate him and may return him)
Dagan
Kelnacca
Xizor
Savage

Also decided to keep the Skeleton Crew.

Dang.

That sounds like it may have just been a faulty listing- maybe they included the wrong photo or something? I don't think the retro Aayla is due out for a couple months, is she? My Magnaguard says August.
I got the listing from ToyShiz, whatever he posted. Guess it makes sense, but I still want a retro card version. I'll be returning these today.

I'll be totally honest - I hated the single joints at first, but as long as the character design hides it well, I think they've done a good job giving the characters a lot of ROM with the style of single joint they use. I don't love it on the stormtroopers but on some of the baggy-pants/loose shirts figures I don't notice it anymore. I do think it makes the troopers look a little bit stumpy in the legs but it doesn't bother me on Jedi and Sith, but totally just my personal opinion.

It's the Jedi and Sith I hate it the most on. Getting a two-handed grip on a lightsaber is MUCH easier and has a much wider array of posing options with a double-jointed elbow that gets more than 120 degrees of elbow bend.

If it's a double-jointed elbow that doesn't get much additional articulation range due to the sculpt getting in the way then it's not useful. For example that Walgreens Obi-Wan in the stormtrooper armor is sitting in front of me right now, and his elbows are double-jointed but the armor prevents them from getting much extra range so there wasn't much point to making those double-jointed.

I may try and grab an ISB Trooper or two before next week's finale. Saw a Twitter thread of trailer shots we've yet to see in the show, and they're featured in a bunch of them, so with next week being the only episodes left, it seems they'll play a decent part from here out.

I keep typing and reading the ISB Trooper as the "IBS Trooper", but let me tell ya, that's something else entirely! :ROFLMAO::poop: Featuring cool new brown armor! But is it supposed to be brown? That's the great mystery!

I'm sure there is a ton of IBS in that room, yes.

I bet Tarkin purposely gets it wrong in every staff meeting too.

Every scene in that room requires SOMEONE popping a fistful of tums. Except Partagaz. He seems to know exactly who he is and exactly what he needs. Although maybe he's internalizing so much anxiety he's chewing himself apart from the inside.

Toy-related: Sebulba just arrived! I he is definitely bigger than I expected, but I love that they are doing some fun stuff with aliens. More aliens, Hasbro! Love clone troopers but give us the weird stuff.

I found a Captain Rex from Ahsoka. I prefer the v1 helmets to v2 for clones. Something about the art deco Rocketeer look. I don't really buy many Star Wars anymore, but I figured I splurge for this version of Rex. May get the recent updated ANH Luke and Leia, as well as the upcoming Han and Chewie just to have updated/better versions of them. Although I'll likely just wait for price drops/sales.
I was surprised to see how clean the new Rex helmet is compared to the original. I snagged a second Rex when they *finally* rereleased him and never opened him, but now that I've seen the new one, I think I want the old one.

Cracked open armored Moff Gideon and Sebulba tonight. Gideon's REALLY nice - his expression seems... a little distressed though? It's a really good likeness but he doesn't have that incredible confidence and arrogance Gideon has in every scene. He's got GREAT range of motion for an armored figure though.

Sebulba is wonderful. He really highlights how much the team deserves the opportunity to go a little crazy with weird aliens. So expressive, Sebulba's weird limb situation is really well executed... I love this figure even if it's a character I don't have a TON of nostalgia for. What he really needs is a podracer though. :)

So I guess I'm a Black Series collector now. Most of the Star Wars figures that came into this house were for the missus, with me just occasionally grabbing a character I really liked, buuuut since my G.I. Joe collection is basically finished, Marvel Legends continuing to be a slow trickle of stuff I like, and Monster Force delayed indefinitely, I have to get *something*. How can I truly call myself an addict if I don't?

It was that new Chewbacca that inspired me. He looks so great, I went ahead and pre-ordered him and ordered a full set of OT characters.

I feel like of all the OT heroes, Chewie really could benefit from an update. The new Luke and Leia are great but I didn't dislike the older versions; Chewie's always had ROM limitations I'd love to see them overcome with some modern engineering. I'm hopeful the update is a banger.

That old Gideon is definitely a little pin-headed, but the expression is far superior. I love the kinda raised eyebrow thing going on. But I do think the proportions of the new head are a little better. Both have that signature "unenthused annoyance" look that Giancarlo does so well, but the new one definitely suffers from the classic "blank slate" look a bit, like many Black Series do.
