X-Men '97

I also received Jubilee yesterday and I like the figure. The head has a nice anime styled sculpt. The new jacket is sweet, especially having double elbows. I like the new power effects but hate that her hands are part of the sculpt. No way to use them for previous Jubilee figures. Glad to add her but definitely would have preferred the classic costume she wore for 95% of the show.

Do you have the animated one? You could strip the cel shading off. That head is still pretty good.
I didn't get the VHS. Aside from the weird torso, Caliban wave Jubilee is also cockeyed. I think I might just spring for a Jubilee head from the #275 3 pack.
The new 97 Morph seems to have an odd chest in the video reviews I'm seeing too.
Yeah that chest looks really weird. Even given that it's an "animated" style, I still don't get it.

AND on the front of the package for all the figures in this wave.

I've got more Jubilee versions than I need as it is, so this one being lackluster doesn't really bother me any. The 275 faces or the VHS faces are superior in my opinion as this animated version's face looks oddly chubby, like she has the makings of jowls somewhat. Taking the cel shading off the VHS one's jacket and sticking the Uncanny 275's head on it seems to be the best mashup for now. Rather disappointing that this one finally gets effects and its with a hand color that wont work with any of the previous ones, plus the effects are mostly just purple and blue. It's a shame they don't just make multiple little multi-colored blast effects that will all snap-in / port-in with eachother so you can construct your own blast effect. Much like Gamerverse Silver Samurai's effect is overly dark purple and blue, I kept his translucent blue sword and put X-Force boxset Psylocke's magenta powered sword effect on it and it looks pretty cool/unique. Haven't tried Magik's on it yet.

Only got Sunspot because he came in the case from EntertainmentEarth and I didn't feel like chasing each figure down. I'd much preferred he were his powered form from the end of the season, so I could swap parts in with the older comics X-Force Sunspot we got previously.

I'm waiting for someone to take the plunge and paint him powered up. I'd do it, but, much like Sentry/Void, and Black Spot the year before, Hasbro isn't going to miss an easy repaint opportunity.

Emma just arrived - kinda wish they'd painted the lines in her hair, or highlighted them somehow. Or, given her cell-shading like the reference art on the package. It's just a little too bland on an otherwise PHENOMENAL sculpt.

The straight lines on her boots are perfect. I got three and all are perfectly printed. Not perfect? Somehow, even though these actually did ship in a box, all three arrived damaged. Yay, thanks Amazon!

Her smiling head looks a little like Elaine Hendrix, who would have made a fantastic Emma.

I am waiting to pick these up until I see them. I think the first wave was a little less cartoony looking and was fudgeable with comic ones. These look just a little too much like the source material especially Cable. I know, I know "but Sarge Stinky these are BASED on an animated series". I don't normally collect any DC or Marvel figures that aren't comic based but I liked the upgrades on some of these compared to their original comic figures so yeah....want to see them in person. Sigh. Collecting.......

Got around to opening Morph, Jubilee, and Sunspot yesterday, and I quite like them. Can't quite put my finger on it, but they seem a little more matte, or perhaps a slight bit more muted, than the previous waves. Or maybe I'm just imagining things.

I do really like Morph; he was perhaps my most anticipated, and he's really fun. Some really nice, unique sculpting here, and the face sculpt has some great character. I do wish there was a skin-colored neck piece for the human head, though. He feels a little barebones overall, but since his powers are to become other people and use their powers, I guess it makes sense. Could've been cool to give him another character's hands or something, but I guess you could do that yourself if the pegs fit.

Sunspot feels a little barebones as well; mine's belt is a liiiittle off as well, which kinda bugs me, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to fix it. How have ya'll been getting him to hold the flame orb? I can kinda balance it on his open palm, but it always kinda topples to one side, even if I try to tuck the little crescent thing under his hand, but it feels like I'm missing something super obvious.

Jubilee is nice, and again, some really great character shining through. I may try and paint her boots, or at least part of them, the same purple as on her collar. I definitely prefer her original look, but if this is the one we get, I just think it needs a little more color, even if that means it's not screen-accurate. Similar question to Sunspot as well; for whatever reason, I never know how to pose characters that have sort of an arc effect to their powers. How are you guys posing her with the powers to look natural? Posing her like the back of the box is fine enough, but the lack of implied motion bugs me. 😅 I know I'm overthinking it, but I'd love to see what ya'll are doing!

Got Logan in today.

See, these are the kinds of things that drive me up a wall with Hasbro's lazy reuse.

Toon head. Toon torso. Toon coat and arms...

Fucking same Logan legs they've been using since 2015. Extra details and texture in the damn jeans that don't match the aesthetic of the rest of the figure. The same damn belt buckle--even though in the toon, it's just a flat grey square. Hell, even the boots are the wrong color.

Just so damned lazy and cheap.

They're definitely going to reuse the same Beast body for the X97 version. Sigh...

Got the whole set today. The plastic on this line feels very soft. One of Emma's arms came off at the bicep just trying to pose. Popped back on but disconcerting on quality overall. Cable and Emma are the standouts, everyone else is a little mediocre to me. Jubilee and Sunspot's hair reminds me of cake frosting. Morph's hands aren't much larger than the normal female hands too for some reason. The Gyrich head was nice though.

Glad it was helpful! And since it was, here's the brave person who powered-up Sunspot, via Reddit.

Not a criticism of the custom, but the figure just painted black isn't doing it for me. Not that I preferred DST's STD take on this look, but I think the painted blue highlights are necessary.

Also, now that I'm looking at that bust again, I think one of the problems is they put a powerball right where his nipple should be and it looks like a giant nipple popping through his costume.

I digress. :)

I noticed this too the other day, the textured reuse legs are something I'd applaud on a standard release, they look off being factory kit bashed with an animated upper half.

bUt iT wIlL bE pInLeSs! Kinda scared to see what they charge for old Beast in 2025.

I'm not expecting much from Beast. Very good chance they just update the old mold to a pinless one and give him a new head. Maybe new hands with less pronounced claws. And that honestly wouldn't be a bad figure or anything. I'd prefer a sculpt that lessens the fur pattern to a degree and maybe further broadens the shoulders. And ditch the ab crunch for a ball-joint. If they nail the portrait I'll be mostly content. My display needs an animated Beast portrait.

I think what you're asking for will push into deluxe release category. Probably looking at a $35-40 figure.
